GTI steerling wheel - changing your driving?

Bit of a personal question here.

Since coming from a MK4GTI to the MK5GTI I have really noticed a big difference in the way I position my hands on the steering wheel (eg racing position) far more than I did in my old car. This is mostly down to how it is shaped for you to drive with and the design which I feel is excellent.

Have you guys also noticed the change?

I feel a lot safer being encouraged to have 2 hands on the wheel at all times rather than being sloppy and only having one or very relaxed 2.

I couldn't agree more about how good the steering wheel design is and how it encourages you to hold it 3 & 9 oclock with both hands on. I got into one hand bad habits on my BMW.

With the excellent steering wheel and supportive seats, it's a great place to be smile.gif.

Actually my current A3 has a nice steering wheel with thumb indents on the steering wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions, I made a conscious effort to drive with both hands on the wheel and now feel more assured when making swift progress.

My soon to be new GTI will only make this even more enjoyable smile.gif and I dare say necassary ! FIREdevil.gifECLIPSe.gif

Only driven my GTI for 150 miles but the wheel isn't as nice as my old Leon Cupra R. Seems to go too thin in places for my chunky hands ( I'm not a fatty by the way ...34" waist jeans!! ) . The LCR wheel felt better , will hae to get used to this one.
