On Board power supply control unit B6

Hi Folks,

Hope you can help me with this?

I am at the moment trying to retrofit an Interior Dimming Rear view mirror.

The Mirror is installed Ok and Most of the wiring is working as required. Dims at night when light strikes sensor...un-dims when reverse is selected...So far so good. 169144-ok.gif

Now Here's the problem.

When I switch on the interior lamp, the mirror dims.... WRONG... smashfreakB.gif

Looking at the wiring diagrams - Pin 6 from the mirror goes to Pin 1 of the interior lamp unit.

This circuit is looped through the lamp to Pin 11. ZZZ.gif

Here is where it starts to unravel....

This wire should proceed onto J519 the "On board power supply control unit" Plug T32b/19. This wire is missing.

Now

Here's the question.

Can I remove the plugs from this module without major disruption to the car, (the last time I took out the battery I had to reprogramme the Steering column module).

Is removing the key sufficient to de-power the module completely.

When I pull this Grey mulit-plug T32b will the module J519 have all the appropriate Pins installed and where can one get the female plug bits for the grey mulit-plug?

Alternatively is there a live switched feed in the interior lamp that I could use to trigger this undimming function.

My car is a 2003 A4 (B6) 1.9 TDI Quattro Sport Avant, Lowline model.

Hope this makes sense, I've tried to keep my explaination as simple as possible lol.gif

Thanks

Thanks for that...Yep that is the module I'm fighting with at the moment.

Is it sufficient just to remove the Earth from the battery to keep the data safe. The last time I removed both leads to remove the battery I had to recode the ESP!!!

I'll have a go when it STOPS RAINING.....

Thanks for the reply
