shaiboy_uk
Hi all, I have a R reg (1998) VW Passat Estate 1.9 TDI (Engine Code AHU). Yesterday my car seems to start playing up. At first it didn't seem like the turbo was cutting in, but that seems fine. It seems that at low speed more times than not it will be fine, but at times it doesn't seem to have much boot. On motorways, anything around 3000 RPM and above and the car seems to start juddering but RPM remain the same, but taking foot of pedal and reapplying will sometimes help, it might do the same then power through it a bit. I've tested the car out of gear revving above 3000 RPM and seems clear, so appears just to be under load. The car had its oil and oil filter changed around 3-4k ago, and the air and fuel filters changed about 6k ago. To try and help things I drained any water out of the fuel filter, but no difference. I checked the air filter and even though it is a bit dirty, nothing compared to what it was when it was last replaced. Anyone have any ideas? Been a great work horse this car and want to keep the thing going. I can't really afford to put it in a garage and get VAG's checked etc, so hopefully a self fix. Thanks for any help. jedster0
Sounds to me like it could be your MAF playing up Have a search through some of the other threads on the forum to see if they are any help
shaiboy_uk
Hi, Just an update...just in case others have issue. Ended up replacing the fuel filter (changed around 3k ago) and air filter (changed around 7k ago). Also at the time took the top of the air filter cover apart where the Air Flow Meter is located, looked all fine. Anyway, put it back on the road and boost seems back and juddering seems to be gone Well in the past two nights it has been fine, but will keep an eye on it.....
