cmcintee
Hi, Been reading through the some of the post on the upside and downsides of living with a Civic Type R. A lot of it comes down to .. can you live with the high revs and harsh ride when you are not tearing about having fun. I have been looking at going for a 04 -05 model but I have a daily 50mile round trip commute to work, mainly motorway and wondered if anyone else uses their Type R this way? Thanks Maxi. D1MAC
Yep, When I had mine I had exactly the same route and managed it for just about 3 years (plus other longer trips as well) - @ 48k in that period. At the end of the day it isn't going to be mega comfortable but at the same time it often isn't quite as bad as some would make out. The noise isn't disastrous if you learn to work the volume knob on the stereo , fuel consumption is ok (I got 27-35 depending on conditions), the seats are pretty comfortable and the gearbox is a joy to use (if you hit traffic). The one issue is likely to be the ride since it's rather firm and can get a bit bouncy on the more uneven roads. However, that's usually the price you pay for pointiness so you pays your money and takes your choice
