2006 - Audi S4 Cab - Going September

2006 - Audi RS4 Avant - gone- new house coming

Please can you do something with your sig'? Perhaps I'm a bit slow, but I'm never able to keep up! ices_blah.gif

You never even took delivery of the RS4 did you?

Here Goes;

Struggling to fit all of them in the sig-

2006 - got a £431k Mortgage instead of the RS4.

2006 - S4 went - Golf 1.4tsi arrived (put 20k on it in 4 months)

2007 - Golf Tsi went - R32 arrived (Put 12k on it)

2007 - Company finally agreed to a milage scheme due to constant complaining by moi about depreciation and ended up getting a A42.0TDI Sline Quattro - as mentuioned in other post I am doing about 3k miles a month resulting in a £1200 expense claim.

Would like to get an RS4, can afford it at the moment, however there is no need for another saloon in the family and I don't fancy another cab.

Would like to save up a bit more over the next 12 months and buy something special.

So Golfs gone, you've just got the one car, a 2007 A4 2.0 PD 170 quattro? Great mile muncher. As long as you keep it and don't keep changing for a new one every four months ( tongue.gif ) the depreciation shouldn't be that bad.

Agree that you should perhaps treat yourself to a fun weekend car privately to go alongside the Monday-Friday company tractor.

My 2.0 tdi 140 dsg has done 1700 miles, only averaging 36-38. My last car was bmw 320d auto which did better than this. Audi qoute 50mpg combined, I haven't achieved this even driving at 30-40 mph. I'd like to blame audi but aren't mpg figures from an independant source?

Well just an update,

Car went into audi today for an "mpg" test. They got it doing 56.1MPG. The test they did was 50miles at a continuous 60MPH. Amazing, wonder which brain surgeon came up with that one.

Anyway, don't see me winning this battle as it must be the journeys i am doing which aren't getting the best out of the car. I am going to follow it up with Audi Uk tomorrow to see how i get on, I am not happy with the car. Weather it was stupid or not i genuinely sold my old 04 plate a3 2.0FSI and bought this on the promise of performance and economy.

hello all.

Have been searching mpg after buying a used 56 plate s line 170 a4 on 65k... filled the car up with £76 at 129.9 and with mixed driving to work 15 miles 1 way done 482 miles and filled it up again at a cost of £80. My calculations this is 35 mpg which I think i very poor!! I have changed from a T reg rover 220d that was a shed and that was getting 45mpg and I had to nail it to get it anywhere!! I changed the air filter the other week and it was full of leaves and dirt so I'm hoping that will help!! temped to buy a plug in chip from chip express as they claim to up mpg figures.... would be interesting to see if anyone else has used one of these??? great forum guys!

Hi!

Welcome to TSN!

35 is pants, BUT what is your driving style AND what sort of roads is your journey on?

When was it last serviced?

A service can make a big difference.

Thanks for the welcome.

35 is pants! agree totally.

Its in need of a service now as last owner let it slip as he was selling it.

My driving style does vary from dual carriage way 60 mph in 6th to 3rd and heavy foot off roundabouts to get to 60-70 in 6th but I’m not gunning it everywhere... but my main commute does vary really. Going to take it easy this week and then fill it up again but can’t be doing with nursing mpg out of it!

I’ve only had the car 3 weeks so don’t suppose I’ve got use to it yet. I find it better doing 80 in 6th. The computer says I’m getting 40mpg from it then... I’ve always thought that mpg computers in cars have lied (obviously I was wrong) I’ve changed the air filter last week so I’m hoping that and a good oil change will sort it out a bit... Been thinking of checking the EGR valve and inlet manifold too. I can’t live with £40-£45 a week for fuel at the moment.

Another question, is this what they call a PD engine or a common rail?

I have a 140 which as standard will do about 700 miles to a tank on pure motorway (drove to edinburgh from hampshire and back)

its now running 197 brake and i still average well over 50 on motorways and slow drives, if i plant it then i get about 30ish, its all about your driving! i live 4 miles from my office and if i dont do any other driving i will be lucky to see 350 from a tank but thats because i drive with a heavy foot all the time.

If your doing a long motorway run dont use cruise control i know its easy but it chews fuel!
