cruiser647
My mate who bought my old A6 Avant has just had it serviced and the bloke thinks the gearbox is on it's way out. The only issue my mate has with it is that if you are driving along in any gear, and takes his foot off the gas so the car coasts a bit. When he puts his foot back on the gas there is a slight vibration. It feels as if it is taking up slack or shifting a bit on it's mounts. However, that is the only issue. If he usses Tip up and down - smooth as. In normal D, it's smooth as. If he's in 5th and stomps on the gas so it kicksdown to 2nd, and goes up through the gears - it's smooth as. The car is still smooth as feck with just over 200K miles on it. There are no codes about the gearbox on VagCOM When I had the car, I had the gearbox fluid changed (always do). Anybody have any ideas of what that could be or even if it is bad/terminal? He'll get a second opinion anyway, but just thought I'd ask on here. He is very mechanically minded and mechanically sympathetic.
