Braytak
APRIL 2003, NO SQUEAKS EITHER..
richy_uk
I think the sqeaky ones were some 2002 / 2003 cars. My old cab was terrible and there's certainly been some TSNers that have had the mod done.
lmmlmmam
Both of mine are March 03 cars and both have squeaked. Had the proper pads fitted to the first one but it didn't work all that well. Have fitted self adhesive foam rubber pads on this one about 2mm thick 15mm square at each side of each visor. Perfect! GCab
My 03 TDi cab never squeaked, apart from right at the end (on the way to be traded in!) after 9 months when I got a bit of a rattle from the driver side window (I gather this goes away if the glass edges are cleaned) My 04 cab made roofline squeaks early on (roof latch mechanism?) and now has an intermittently creaky centre console which shows up only in cold weather (can this be fixed?). I think it is luck of the draw... As far as the visors go, my 03 car had no pads, my 04 one does, and neither seems to squeak from there (though they did change the visors as being "worn" when I took it in to investigate the earlier noise, without any great effect)
lmmlmmam
GCab, the centre console on my first one squeaked/creaked quite badly on broken road surfaces. Took 2 goes but they finally got it fully sorted.
GCab
Ooh -OK, useful to know: now the problem is same old one of trying to prove it happens on a test drive. It's temperamental and only cold/wet days seem to do it.
richy_uk
I get the centre console squeak when it's cold and I lean my knee against it.
cabby
[ QUOTE ] Can the visor pads, shown in Ari's pic, be easily retro-fitted to a 2002 model ? I've noticed the annoying visor rattle and would really like to stop it ASAP. [/ QUOTE ] What I should have added was ' and will this be done under warranty'. Spoke to my dealer today about this and they were not able to confirm if it would be done under warranty. Explained I was just trying to save their's and my time but told they couldn't tell me this till the car was with them Car is an '02 model and would like to get rid of the very annoying rattles - preferably free of charge. Phantom
If you are just after curing the visor rattles it only requires a pair of felt pads under each visor. You can get them from B&Q etc for less than a pound. Fitted mine just after I got the car nearly two years ago and haven't had any problems since. lmmlmmam
I quite agree with Mark, this issue is one it is best to fix yourself. I've done it both ways and my own pads have been far more sucessful.
