If indeed RS4's aren't going to be an option. Then why is there a pic of them here:

http://www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/neuwagen/a3/s3/technik.html

Do the germans get them?

[/ QUOTE ]

Dont see it mate.

Let it go, we all have to be wrong sometimes the_finger.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

What exactly is your problem? I don't recall ANYONE EVER saying that it was 100% definite that RS4's would be an option, either in this thread or the other one you refer to. Yet you seem desperate to prove that they do and you were right all along.

We all hoped the S3 would get the option, if it doesn't then it's dissapointing. But the fact is, the pic of an RS4 wheel on the S3 pages of the german site does raise some questions. That you cannot argue with.

I like the fact that the car comes with xenons and heated front seats as standard.

Did anyone read the bit in brackets next to sat-nav. Cant play cd's at same time, even on the £2,000 option it says 6cd changer is recommended.

Cant help but say told you so on the RS4 alloys, i know this doesn't help but perhaps people will think twice about jumping in with both feet before they know the facts. znaika.gif Edited to say (aimed at a couple of people on the "New S3 picture" thread page 3)

90% RS3-2008 sekret.gif

Aren't you amazing, God I wish I knew as much as you.

I will listen to every word you say from now on..... ROLLEY~14.GIF

Exactly, it must take real skill to make such bold predictions without ANY FACTS to back it up what so ever.

Bill2shots, what do you know that makes you so special? and all of us so clueless?

I dont and never have thought any TSN'r clueless. I would say 99% of members have greater knowledge than myself. I have been helped by many people on this great site. At the end of the day we all have different knowledge and sources of information. I stated that RS4 alloys would not be an option, and they are not. Some people are quick to jump in and argue. These people then remain silent when proved wrong.

When people share views and opinions it is right that they are discused, but when someone says something WILL or WONT happen others should not try to question their honesty.

anyway....

With regard to the current S3, the RS4 wheels weren't availaible as an option for about 18 months after they were launched on the old RS4.

Just do what I did at the time and order them separatley from Audi after you get the car, add some super sticky tyres and swap them over.

Then sell the wheels you took off on ebay to one of the thousand A3 owners out there that will want the new S3 wheels on their A3.

Everybodys happy smile.gif

My advice is source them through a dealer in Germany, prior to Audi hiking the prices up as they did with the old RS4 style alloy once the demand got strong.

Anybody know if the Haldex has been upgraded/updated?

My last haldex didnt last too long after modding! (£7k bill)

So the question for me is new S3 or new TT....

If they put this engine in the new TT Roadster, then that would be nice cool.gif

Hold on a minute. Since when was it not allowed to voice an opinion on TSN then.

I as have others are commenting on the fact that however good the car might be, that yet again they are charging us more for less. I'm not happy about it and will happily continue to voice my opinion, people might not like the truth but hey, like I care. laugh.gifcoffee.gif

Power and Economy

Twin-Scroll turbocharger from BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems in new 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged spark-ignition engine.

BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems confirms again its position as a leading supplier of turbocharger technology for spark-ignition engines. The automotive-supplier has developed a new K04 Twin-Scroll turbo-charger which will be used for the first time in a spark-ignition engine with direct fuel injection and turbocharging. The engine will be launched soon onto the US market. In this market, BorgWarner sees a high potential for vehicles that need powerful, yet fuel- and space-efficient engines. The carefully matched turbocharger ensures immediate engine response while providing excellent fuel econ-omy and low emissions within an extremely compact design. At 194 kW (260 bhp) and 353 Nm (260 lb.-ft) the 2.0-l Turbo engine provides approximately the same performance as larger V6 units but with better fuel economy.

High Power – Low Fuel Consumption

The K04 Twin-Scroll turbocharger from BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems also features an integrated blow-off valve and a high efficiency turbine wheel. The Twin-Scroll turbine design further ensures that exhaust pressure pulses are effectively utilized at low engine speeds, thus optimizing the ratio between charging pressure and backpressure. The boost effect from the Twin-Scroll turbocharger is evident as low as 1400 rpm and ensures optimum response even at low engine speeds.

Success in Innovation

“Our team is very proud of being a participant in the global development of this engine,” said Steve McKinley, Director — Business Development Passenger Car Turbochargers — North America. “With this innovative development, BorgWarner Turbo E Emissions Systems is making a valuable contribution towards improved fuel econ-omy, reduced CO2 emissions and best-in-class performance for direct-injected gasoline engines around the world.”

Only recently, the turbocharger specialist worked closely with Audi to develop the world’s first gasoline engine to use both direct injection and a turbocharger, the Audi 2.0-liter Turbo FSI. The engine was in the new Audi A3 Sportback, and is now available on the Audi A4, the Golf GTI and the Passat. The Volkswagen Group also recently presented the first dual-charged, spark-ignited engine in the VW Golf 1.4 TSI. Here too, the K03 turbocharger, with its integrated exhaust manifold and blow-off valve, was supplied by BorgWarner Turbo & Emissions Systems.

Time to sell the porka i think shocked.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

They cost about the same these days! grin.gifsmashfreakB.gif

Seriously though, is anyone going to wait for an 07 plate before taking delivery.

Will this affect resale, as only a very few S3's will have the 56 plate if they start delivering in mid Jan? confused.gif

I have waited long enough and will not wait another 3 months for the new plate. As there are 2 plates a year it has minimal impact. I am still confident the first deliveries will start in December sekret.gif

So what color is everyone likely to get?

If I do buy I'm thinking Sprint Blue or Grey

[/ QUOTE ]

Judging by your previous posts, I thought you would rather get anything but an S3! bike.thumb.gif

I'm quite liking Ebony Black at the moment (or whatever that colour is called today). Nice and stealthy.

I think my main problem is I have an 8P, and I'm dissapointed the S3 has been lazily designed, so it looks virtually identical. I actually think the power specs are pretty good, but the exterior and interior I find dissapointing.

btw, what are these daytime driving lights that come as standard?

Daytime running lights are headlights than are on whenever the ignition is turned on. They consist of ordinary lower power very long life bulbs in one of the reflectors in the headlight unit. The other reflector has bi-xenons to provide both dip and main beams. Daytime running lights are already required by law in Scandanavian countries and also in Austria. It is recommended that they are used in France, Holland and Germany and will soon be required in all EU counries including the UK. This is Audi being ahead of the game and fitting them as standard to all new models. The new TT has them as standard as well.
