  1. Hi again, I have the Highline option on my GTI and what I need to know is if I change the audio system in the car which has sat nav will this affect the Highline computer?? Appreciate any answers on this..
  2. Sounds similar to some of the problems I had when I picked mine up!! Dealers get on my nerves. Especially the way the show you lots of love and attention before you sign the dotted line and hand over the readies. After that you are not a priority anymore.. Terrible!
  3. Well just to give you a bit of an update. I called my local VW about the wind noise and the xenons and they said they did not know about the wind noise problem and the xenon adjustment would not be covered under the warranty!! WHAT!! I will have to try another dealer I think.
  4. Hi to you all, I should have mentioned this some time ago but as a result of reading this forum, reading magazines and Top Gear etc.. I took the plunge and bought a GTI on the 5th of this month. I was looking for a work car to bomb up and down the motorway in with a bit of power (but not too much) under my foot. I then decided that it has to be the Golf with its rave reviews about the way it drives, its power delivery, economy etc. Everyone was trying to tell me to go for a diesel but I could not do it. Not a fan of clatter I was looking for one with certain stuff on it and saw one at a VW branch in Oldham (which is not around the corner from me!!) So I went down there, test drove it and bought it the following day. I have almost 6k on the clock and loving the car so far. But I am getting wind and whistling noise from my door area and I am also getting other drivers complaining about my bright Xenon lights. I intend to take it to my local VW to get this sorted. Anyway thats about it for now. Just thought I would post up to be part of the VW Golf GTI MK5 team. Oh b4 I submit I have recently had a Cruise Control after fit by AMD, paint protection against stone chips by Armourfend and now really considering the tasty ABT kit! Over and out....
  5. [ QUOTE ] Cheeky to ask I know but is the elastic band in the glove tray included or an extra? [/ QUOTE ] Nah, you have to pay a further 5g for the elastic band, Sorry!! hahaha...
  6. [ QUOTE ] I'm seriously thinking about this..... Scorpio, why are you selling it? (apologies if you have mentioned this in your ad) [/ QUOTE ] Hi Mate, Taken from the ebay ad: "My reason for selling this car (believe me I don’t want to) is due to the fact that my Mrs has passed her driving test which means selling this car to have 2 cars in the household. The car is almost 8 months old and I have really enjoyed every moment of it."
  7. [ QUOTE ] You could also try giving Fontain's a call, they bought my A4 2.5 TDi a couple of weeks ago and paid well over what Audi offered, and 2k+ over book. It may save you the hassle of a private sale and they will settle the finance for you. http://www.fontain.co.uk Cheers, Jon. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for that, will call them now..
  8. [ QUOTE ] Autotrader but you will get endless canvasser enquiries if you don't put no canvassers at the bottom of the ad. Also try the Sunday Times, its very expensive but it has these types of cars in it mainly so there is more chance of a sale. [/ QUOTE ] Ok Thanks.. Top Marques too??
  9. Me thinks you should be looking for 30K + especially with the "addons".....good luck Avoid Ebay IMHO... [/ QUOTE ] What other site or mag should I advertise in then?
  10. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Blue neon tube light in boot [/ QUOTE ] And you were doing so well.... Yeah you are right!! A Bit tacky. I removed that minor detail from the spec...
  11. One more thing, Have I priced it ok? Thanks guys...
  12. Have a look for those that are interested.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...E%3AIT&rd=1 Also can anyone recommend another good place to advertise my car for maximum viewings? Top Marques, Autotrader? Thanks
  13. [ QUOTE ] Scorpio - did you buy your R from a main VW dealer? If so, which dealer was it? [/ QUOTE ] Yes VW Motorworld
  14. [ QUOTE ] I think you should take that one back and buy another from elsewhere. There are some real minters around. Don't sell it because of the very small percentage chance of getting carjacked, after all, a new GTi would have just as much chance of getting jacked in my opinion. [/ QUOTE ] You might be right there..
  15. Oh let me also add that the main reason for handing back the keys was also down to the crap salesman who still refuses to deal with some of the minor outstanding issues with the car such as the paint scratches which he wants to do himself, charging me for a missing R32 badge which he sayd the car was debadged so why have one on the back and lastly the squeaky passenger seat which he says is normal....
  16. Oh dear what can I say! For those of you that read my very first post about my newly purchased R32 will know that I had my doubts about the car and just by reading the recent post about the R32 jackings I will be handing back the keys to the dealer tomorrow. Such a shame really because I was getting kinda used to it. But there was a little voice in my head telling me that this car is going to cause me some kind of major problem and for some reason I was visualising a jacking in this car, Seriously!! So it looks like I will be exchanging for the MK5 Golf Gti instead or something else which will not be like the R32 I really wanted. I will probably go down as the shortest lived R32 owner by owning one for just 4days!! Take care...
  17. See my reply here http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/466917/an/0/page/0/gonew/1#UNREAD which is inconjunction with this post
  18. Thanks to everyone that has replied so far. You have helped me big time!! Just by your replies the idea of exchanging the R for the new GTI is slowly disappearing. But I still have time to try the beast out which I am loving... Thanks again guys.
  19. By the way, what colour and spec is you new pride and joy? [/ QUOTE ] Here is my spec.... Volkswagen Golf 3.2 V6 R32 finished in Diamond Black Pearlescent with black leather interior. Specification includes anti-lock brakes, climate control, alarm, power-assisted steering, driver, passenger and side air bags, 18in alloy wheels, electronic stability programme, computer, driver/passenger heated seats, electric/heated door mirrors, immobiliser, driver seat height adjustment, radio/cassette/CD autochanger, front electric windows, remote central door locking, front/rear head restraints and rake/reach adjustable steering column/wheel. Another question, Does the R32 come with rain sensors as standard??
  20. Hi to you all, I have a few questions that I would like answered by yourselves on my new VW R32 which I purchased on Friday 1st. Before I bought this car I did have a massive list of cars to choose from and chose the R32 mainly because I love the look of the car and it had the kinda of power I was looking for. The car will mainly be used on the motorway to commute from different locations mainly in the south east and up north. Yes I know its not the most sensible choice of car to do this in and I did looked at getting the new MK5 Golf GTI which would be more economical but I couldnt resist as I like to have a bit of power under my foot when I need it. I have only done 70miles in the car and found that it is not as fuel hungry as I thought it would be. I would like to hear from an R32 owner that does a lot of motorway driving to see what kind of mileage you get on a full tank and what mpg you average. I was averaging late 20's - early 30's on a recent run.... Anyway on to the point of this post: I picked up the car on Friday and was promised before collection that I few things would be sorted beforehand. read on... 1. On the initial test drive the passenger seat made a squeeking noise when travelling. When I collected the car the salesman said that this is a known problem in the R32 because the leather seat rubs near the central part of the car where the handbrake is. Strange because the edge of the seat has a gap between it. He also said that will disappear when there is a passenger in the seat!! 2. Also on the Test drive I asked the salesman if the Trip computer displays the Fuel range (the amount of miles left before the fuel runs out) and he said that the R32's do not display the range. Can someone verify this as I am going through the Golf manual and it does say that it will display driving range. I have not seen this option on the car though.. 3. When i adjust the right wing mirror, both mirrors move simataneously. Is this meant to happen?? 4. I asked about the ECU upgrade and the salesman said that they could not do it as they do not get involved in that side of things. mmmm... 5.Whilst driving the car home my girlfriend (who is a petrolhead!!) noticed that the front of my car did not have the R32 badge. 6. Lastly, There are several scratches behind the drivers door handle which may have been caused by the previous owners jewellery I think. The salesman said that the scratches would be taken out before collection and they were still there and he said he would arrange for the car to come back in and he will try and get them out personally with compound?? Despite all the problems above I still went ahead and purchased the car. I would be grateful if you guys could advise me what steps to take in regards to the above problems. Should I tackle the showroom I bought the car from or take it up with VW head office. I have 30 days/1000 miles to try this car out or exchange it for another VW at the same showroom which may not have a car that a want. I am already considering exchanging the car for a MK5 Golf GTI even though I love the drive of my R32, I can predict this car being a problematic one. Thanks in advanced to those that will reply to this...
