  1. Not too sure of the actual terminology, but i've removed the interior door trim and window, as well as the metal panel which supports the electric window motor etc. This means i can actually stick my head into the door and look at the locking mechanism directly
  2. Don't know if anyone is familiar with this problem: The rear driver--side door on my mk4 golf will not open with the fob. I suspect as a 'whirring' can be heard when i try to open it, one of the gears within the locking mechanism has failed. I have sucessfully striped the inside of the door down but am now faced with the 'impossible' task of getting the door open in order to gain access to the screws which hold the lock to the door - at the expense of sounding like a car thief, does anybody know if it's possible to open the lock from inside the door? i suspect the dead-lock has activated as the door will not open from the inside either?????
