  1. I was giving my 987 a thorough clean the other day and removed the plastic cover which exposes the battery etc. I noticed a black disc about 40mm diameter and about 10mm thick, with 2 wires coming out of it, dangling beneath the plastic bit where the wipers are. It has a pad on one side which looks as though it may have been stuck somewhere but the adhesive no longer works. The device has no markings on it and I can't see where it might have been stuck. I can't believe that it is supposed to intentionally float about in the compartment. Any ideas what it is and where it's supposed to fit? Cheers

    hard top

Has anyone bought one of those non Porsche hard tops for a Boxter? I am looking to buy a hard top but am not sure whether to go for a Porsche standard one or one of the ones that make it look like a Cayman.
  3. One thing I wished I had added is climate control. But I was on a very tight budget at the time of placing the order. I tried to get it added a month before they actually built the car but they wouldn't change the spec once the build date was settled.
  4. I tried to get insurance for my Boxter. My old insurers wanted a tracker fitted before they would insure me. I wanted a 'Trackstar plus' but porsche only fitted Tracker at the time. This meant that my car wouldn't be insured for theft from the time of leaving the garage until I got the Trackstar fitted. They wouldn't even give me a days grace to get it done. I changed to 'First Alternative'. They didn't care if it had a tracking device. (no reduction if you have one either). Only problem so far is that customer service is in India so you can't understand a word they say. RAC Trackstar is good. A lifetime subscription was about the same as paying 3 seperate years. Great if you intend keeping the car for longer.
  5. I founc this site. www.addacdchanger.co.uk if you look for Porsche it gives options for an autochanger but it's for a Sony. I'm not sure if the one in my car is actually made by Porsche or whether it's a badged up Sony unit. I can't get to the back of it to see if it has the connections mentioned on the website and I don't particularly want to start pulling bits off the facia as i may not be able to get it back. Does anyone know how to get the radio out?
  6. Hi, Thanks for the info. I don't have the Bose, just the basic CDR24 system. I was also put off by the retro fit price. I'll have to see how difficult it is to run the cable and then see if I can get one form the breakers.
  7. I want to fit a CD autochanger to my 2005/6 Boxster.I've seen them cheap on breakers websites. Does anyone know if the wiring is fitted as standard or do I have to start taking the car apart.
