Hey, My idling problem has just gone back to eratic a few days ago since I cleaned it out a few months ago. Im wondering whether I should try disconnecting the battery to reset the ecu but unsure on the procedures? What do you think "Wayneo1988"? Thanks

I had exactly the same problem with the idle! I have a 1998 Audi A3 1.6. I got the car services but the problem still remained. I then put some petrol treatment down the tank but made no difference. I got a junior mechanic to spray some stuff down the throttle body and the car was sweet as a nut! The revs were smooth and there was no eratic idling at all. When he sprayed some of the stuff down the throttle body the can was nearly empty so I presume it was not properly. A few months later the problem returned but only idles eratically sometimes and not all the time like before. I am going to get the throttle body cleaned properly this time and see how I get on. Hopefully the revs should stay smooth for much longer than before.

aah really? Thanks for that, saved me a few £££. The only reason I got a 1.6 was for insurance reasons even though my premium is still rediculous. Bought the car when I was 19, 20 now and in a few months when im 21, i'll be going for a Type R or a 2.0T A3.

Thinking of getting it chipped but not sure because its only a 1.6. Anyone got any advice on this? Im only thinking about getting it done as I have a very generous friend who can get me a good deal ;-)

Thanks alot... Just got RS6 Wheels put on today with the toyo tyres- improved the ride comfort by miles! was appalling before as my car is lowered and maybe because I had 3 different tyre makes on at the same time!

Its a 1.6 but has been Lowerred by 40mm (changed shocks and bushes) K&N Induction Kit Full leather interior I think its about time i refurbished the wheels but dont know whether its worth it or to just buy some new ones... Before i forget Ive been trying to find a armrest. Ive tried VAG Parts, think their asking for 170 If anyone has a spare or second hand one to sell then ill take it! Thanks

Pretty old but im a student and i love it. It has been lowered by 40mm and bilstein shock absorbers recently installed. going in garage soon to change bushes I've seen quite a few pics of a3's with side skirts - anyone have any recommendations on some nice side skirts? the colout is balck - i dont want anything over the top - just smart.
