I like the spoiler i dont think i like much else on the car tho. Dont listen to anyone elses opinion, its ur car. And it isnt chavish at all. They all like their a3's to be kept as original as poss, except for the engine.

There is something funny looking about that car and i cant put my finger on it. I dont mind the spoiler to be honest. Is it just the picture or is that smaller wheels on the front than the rear? Definately something not right there.

Im about to purchase an exhaust system from the cat back. Im looking at the milltek but it only says it suits the 1.8turbo. Does anyone know if this will fit the 1.8 as well? If not can some1 recommend the next best one. Thanks hacky

Yeah the actuall lowering wont be a problem however the ride quality will suffer if you go for crappy kits, coilovers tend to be harsher but i am very happy with my ride quality very smooth even along speedbumps. It will feel different i wont deny it but for the looks and performance it is well worth it. If you see my car in another picture i think u mite like the rims, they really do make my car i think! Dont worry, Im planning on the Porsche brakes on the front and brembo on the rear for the brakes Also set of FK Coilovers for the suspension. Just wondering what kind of impact it makes on it, dont really use it for long journeys other than for my summer job but i am very seriously considering selling my car and buying a 1.8t and stage 2'ing it!

Yeah iv been in touch and i now have a full pricelist for the turbo kits. The Stage 1 kit on a Throttle Cable 1.8t is £3,666.26. That includes the fitting, ECU remap and coolant, oil and filter. 290-300bhp Drive by wire £3,799.66 270-280bhp.

I have a 1997 audi a3 as well. I have 18" wheels and i bought the FK Highsport Coilovers. I couldnt recommend these enough, adjustable height front and rear. I have mines lowered the full 65mm i think it is and it doesnt buff any other the arches at all. I bought mines for £360 ish and cost £90 to get them fitted at a garage. To get this done you have to have an exhaust, DV, and an induction kit. Has anyone got this, heard of it, know some1 wif it? What is it like? Does it make the power it claims? Is it reliable? How does it affect fuel consumption? etc etc Looking down this route, gonna sell my 1.8 buy a 1.8t and get the work done! Any info will be helpful. Thanks

I own a 1997 Audi A3 1.8 20v I am looking at dropping in a 1.8turbo engine. Could anyone tell me if this would be a straightforward swap, how easy it is, any difficulties or problems i will face. Would it be easier just turbo charging my car with parts from a scrapyard A3 1.8t or is it better changing the whole engine completely? Also what engines could i use just Audi A3 1.8turbos (1996-2001)? or golfs, and leons with the 1.8 turbo engine of the same years? Thanks HackyA3

Right thanks a lot for all your help with this. This is the kind of information i was wanting to hear (although not really cos my plans are foiled!) as i didnt know if it would work or not. I will probably just save up the money for an s3 and start my journey there. Thanks for all the helpful posts here. I will put another post on about my other option.

How about the S3 TT 210 engine? Would that be possible, iv heard it has a stronger engine anyway and would be a better engine to swap in.

I take it all S3's and TT's are AWD and not FWD? I wouldnt know what is involved with changing a FWD to an AWD car, is it very difficult? I was thinking that i would try pick up a FWD engine but are they all AWD's?
