  1. Each time I went back to the garage they changed a different item, and through process of elimination they found out what it was.I know people say that the engine in a FSI can be slightly tappety but this was more like a diesel.Working fine since it was fixed.
  2. Hey I too had the same problem with my car, to some it up sounds nearly like a diesel on idle. I brought it too the main dealers and they replaced wait for it;Vaccum Pump,Fuel pump, timing belt, tensioners ana afly wheel. None of these fixed the noise after a long persistant with them they discovered that ot might be a rear timing chain. They replaced that and no more noise. So fropm my experience I would say thats what it is. Good Luck!
  3. Thanks,it actually sounds like the clip added above, I will let you know what the outcome is tomorrow, really hope they get it sorted.
  4. No its not an import but in Ireland, its 2 years or 30,000KM Thanks
  5. Hey,New to this forum, first thing I have to say is fabulous forum!!! I have a 05 mark v gti and there is of late a rattly noise coming from the engine when you are sitting idle,to some it up it sounds like a diesel engine. I have read that the gti can be noisy on tickover but this is quite extreme. I brought to the main dealer who stripped the engine down and said there was a damaged tensioner on the timing belt, however low and behold as soon as I drove out of the garage same noise again It is booked in again for wednesday as they think it could be a vaccum pump. Just wondering if anyone could shead any light on the situation or if there was a damaged tensioner would it damage the cam shaft, its just warranty runs out in july thanks.
  6. Hey just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience on which is the best way to hook up and ipod. By either the vw interface cable or by the dension.
