feel sorry for u idefinetly change my vote to no i am in south africa and i think vw dealers are stealers worldwide

hi we dont have option of cloth or arm rest and cruise control is std on gti also we only have 4 door vehicles

the dealer i drove with this am told me u shift the lever left to activate manual after which u change with the pedals clearly he did not know that u could change with the lever as well. i am now feeling much better about reliability of dsg lets hope they give me a good trade in on mk4 gti and i will certainly place the order and be a loyal poster on here. thanks guys

Brilliant, I am already learning so much. In South Africa the Highline Computer is STD on all GTIs and we only have paddle shifts on steering not on lever. One more question: The one I drove this morning had multifunction steering which looked really smart. I saw a little telephone icon on it, does this mean that it could connect up to your phone via bluetooth etc. Anybody used it? thanks

Hi I am from South Africa and my current MK4GTI has just come off warranty. I am considering purchasing the MK5 GTI DSG, 18", xenon and sunroof. At this point cannot decide between red or black. VW in South Africa is offering finance for the GTi at prime less 3% for all deals concluded in May07. I test drove a manual and DSG this morning and immediately fell in love with the DSG In South Africa (and probably everywhere else) this car is extremely popular. The waiting period is approximately 3 months for DSG but the dealer told me that it has been arriving within a month lately. I need any advice regarding my possible purchase and specifically: 1. Have the initial problems regarding the mechatronic unit in the DSG now sorted out? 2. Does anybody know if the ed 30 will make it to South Africa? The dealers dont know! 3. Is there any other must have option that I am perhaps not considering. 4. Is the DSG more problematic than the manual and will it spend a lot of time at the dealers or is it very reliable? 5. I drove the DSG using sport mode this morning and it was awesome. How is the drive in D mode for everyday driving? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
