thanx, do you know how much that will cost and will i have to take it to vw garage?

just bought vw bora (private sale)within 2 days, it keeps loosing power and saying something like stop engine, and wont go for a bit and then will start and do the same thing straight away again! anybody any idea's? on what's possibly wrong?and how much this will cost me to get fixed?
