  1. Well, I can confirm that a 40v thermostat CAN be done with out complete removal of the timing belt. from this post below A8 S8 40v Thermostat was easier than thought! Yeah! - AudiWorld Forums
  2. massive online treasure, thanks to the dodgy brazilians. most of the 400 audi and vw ssp factory training manuals. maybe make the link a sticky tony. unfortunately most in german. english printed copys can be ordered from bentley publishers. links to just a few here. first is index http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/index_eng.php/ a8-d3 in english http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_282_d1.pdf a8-d2 pre facelift from the 1994 design http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_161.PDF s8-40v 4.2 engine part1 http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_217_d1.PDF s8-40v 4.2 engine part2 http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_217_d2.PDF rs4-2.7 turbo http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_245.PDF rs4-4.2 fsi engine http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_377.pdf rs6-4.2 is not there yet, but a bad pdf copy here http://www.totsteile.ch/internes/tun...mo/ssp_244.pdf also hard cover rs6 sales brochure , great pics. http://www.audi-s.net/tips/BOOK/PDF/audi_rs6.pdf a8-5.2 fsi engine, not there but here http://thepingouinteam.free.fr/Gregt...0FSI-Motor.pdf
  3. my 2000 s8 lhd bi-xenons have no adjustments for rhd driving.
  4. i had same problem and its listed here, http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-a8-s8/118732-power-steering-died-there-manual-rack-fits-8-a.html
  5. here's some more audi 4.2 supercharger pics to get ideas from, the one-off apr that didn't go into production because it would have been to costly for the market to bear(and still make a profit) and was breaking rods at 8psi of boost in an 079 block s4 v8, according to the man from apr. a rare centrifugal procharger on an early 4.2, i'm trying to copy this header design for the my d2 as it is very tight around the engine in the d2. and an a8 d2 motodyne with stainless headers from the land down under. looks like he is here online now(above post) and hope he will give us some more pics, and first hand info of a d2 v8 install, especially header design. john
  6. just got these hi res pics of the best (imho) and most affordable supercharger kit for my 40v d2 s8, the vf-engineering one, costs £5700 also two more pics comparing it to the new audi s4 3.0tfsi unit also made by eaton. john
  7. search forum is your friend;fuel pump repairs here, http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-a8-s8/120276-fuel-pump.html i just put some more pics here yesterday, Fuel pump assembly knowledge needed... - Page 2 - AudiWorld Forums
  8. bb-automobiltechnik.de, one of the oldest and best german tuners of the audi 4.2, in the same class as abt-sportsline.de, mtm, and hohenester-sport.de, used to offer more than 425hp power kits when our d2 s8's first came out. they had cams from schrick (i believe)and their own exhaust along with porting and polishing of the heads. here is their link ,sadly no cams or exhaust listed now. Willkommen*bei*B*&*B*Automobiltechnik*-*Ihr*Tuner*für*VW*&*Audi*Fahrzeuge
  9. previously posted blower pics here; V8 head refurbishment - Page 3 - A8 Parts Forum because i love to look at pics when sitting at the computer, all audi 4.2 blowers on sale now, in order, audi new s4 3.0, vf-engineering, pes, motodyne, autospeed performance, pes, novidem, mtm, new abt, abt, audi new s4 3.0.
  10. basically yes, i am originally from the states and i have a lhd 2000 s8 manual with aqh here in the UK, i too phoned blauparts.com about many of their s8 parts as when dollar was 2 to the pound, a year and a half ago all their audi parts were half the price there in the USA. they said there was some small differences with the tensioner i think, as early s8's over here came out one year before the US model, which ran from 2001-2003. also mine has 2 small belt rollers like the one they sell for later vin's. look in the pics. you can ask them to give you part numbers and double check. from my elsawin and etos audi software, engine codes for the 360hp 4.2 40valve v8 are, aqh-5/99 to 2/01, ays-2/01 to 9/02, bcs-9/00 to 2/01 and avp-9/00 to 9/02 aqh and avp were also available with the 6mt, manual. for continental europe.
  11. sad indeed, guess you got the v8 satisfaction. just visited their uk website, name came from 8 vegtables it seems.
  12. thought i would add exhaust diverter valves as these are very popular now and standard eqipment on rs4,s4, aston v8 vantage,db9 ,porsche turbo, corvette z06,with the sport buttons that open actuators for louder adjustment on the road, electric operation can use rpm speed switch from mallory or msd that open at certain rpm.vaccuum needs solenoid switch. many aftermarket companys, mostly in the states are offering different types of systems. as most of us performance car enthusiasts live for the sound of our engines and don't just change exhausts for an extra 20 or 30hp, these are good modifications also if you want to stay friends with your neighbors. the long tube headers popular in the usa have shown proven dyno results of 50hp alone on 5,6 and 7 litre v8's. noweeds.net ,electric actuator atpturbo.com ,ves-virtual exhaust system, vaccuum pertronix.com ,dougs headers, stainles steel electric cutouts kreissiegeurope.com ,vaccuum operated eisenhaus.com
  13. hi, first of all your avatar, i dont know if anybody over here in the uk has drank a v8 juice, but as i'm from the states i grew up on it, so they don't know the solgan "you could'a had a v8". east sussex one of my favorite places, i lived on the eridge park estate for couple of years and still have a farm in frant. i do work on the s8 there sometimes. i've been an exhaust nut since 16 years old, and here's my list of the best bespoke exhaust fabricators in uk and us (to get ideas from). and in order from f1 fabricators to tube and header/manifold manufacturers to cats. mine done by hayward. search s8-decat in this forum. john uk primarydesigns.co.uk sstubetechnology.com goodfabs.com haywardandscott.com btbexhausts.co.uk blueflameperformance.com thermallogic.com usa burnsstainless.com spdexhaust.com icengineworks.com kookscustomheaders.com elstonheaders.com agtronicmotorsport.com germany cat specialists hjs-motorsports.de emitec.com
  14. photo was thanks to ian and david at a8parts, as they brought an a8 bodyshell to the annual a8oc meet in leicester in june. i took loads of pics for future reference, glad they went to all the effort. you really don't have to remove the fan unit, just get underneath the car and grab the rubber drains and squeeze like your milking a cow, and stuff should come out, or cut the bottom 1" off the rubber so all the leaves go right out in the first place, i did all my drains like this and never clog anymore now.
