turns out it was the rubber (doughnut) bush that joins the propshaft to the gearbox... so thankfully not too expensive... £82 from bmw and took an hour to change......

Bonjour! I own an e46 320cd and recently it has developed a juddering problem at the top end of 1st and 2nd gear (when toe-ing it) have been told it could possibly be cv joint, driveshaft, dampers, bushes or diff..... I was wondering weather anyone has had a similar experience and could shed some light on this potentially dire and expensive problem...?

bonjour! can any one tell me weather the lettering on the boot of an e46 3 series has got pins? or are they just stuck on? either way....... has anyone got any good ways of getting them off..... many thanks in advance....

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is able to tell me where i can get my hands on an oil sump pan for my 53 plate e46 bmw 320cd?? i have trawled the net for i don't know how long with no joy...? have just had to replace my turbo and oil breather so spending money on this little sod of a car is beggining to become quite tedious....... however when going to do an oil change i noticed an "alridite" type substance which seems to have been used for fixing the sump pan back on after the previous oil change......(am not happy) suggesting that the previous owner didn't have the right gasket or had cracked it somehow.... Having said that though before encountering these problems i have enjoyed every minute in the car.... so worth fixing i think.....Can anyone help???? many thanks....
