  1. Really can no one help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
  2. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp! Passat TDI (110bhp) 1999 AFN engine code Originally the turbo stopped working and remains not working but it has also developed a large diesel knock. Had the engine codes read although no engine management lights have flagged up on the dash. There were a silly number of codes that came up indicating loads of sensors had issues which I don't believe. It was suggested that the coolant sensor was dead so changed it and no luck:ffs: Have given up and had to hand it to the garage  They were also puzzled, code pointed to the mass air flow meter and suggested incorrect readings on it would lead to incorrect fuel mixture, changed it, but still no good. Does anyone know how much fuel should come out of nipple on the injector if the leak off pipe off is pulled off when ticking over, because mine gushes out. It would seem that the engine is getting too much diesel hence the knock. So is the diesel pump knackered or is the ECU dead i.e. its tellin the pump to put in too much diesel???????? Does anyone know about the diesel pump internally? I understand that there is an injector in it the pumps in more fuel when the engine is cold, how is this controlled i.e. turned off when the engine is warm is it the ECU? To summarise, no turbo, too much diesel going into the engine causing engine knock, too many codes on computer but no engine management lights on the dash - any ideas??????
  3. have a look at the post loss of power????? post just below yours in the list, many get an idea from that. best of luck
  4. cheers for the reply. Similar to you, I gave mine a good trashing to try burn off any carbon deposits in the turbo that could potentially be sticking the VNT ports in the turbo open (limp mode). As the turbo sits in the exhaust gas stream and I tend to crawl along in 5th gear there's a chance it could just be a deposit build up. Spoke to my local private VW specialist who I totally trust and have used for over 10 years and they also backed up my thoughts of sticking VNT ports. Similar to you I told them that I also didn't get an engine management light on and they didn't seem to be surprised and implied that if it was the sticking of the ports there probably wouldn't be one. When I was looking into this I found these sites that may interest you. DDG- VNT fact sheet How does Variable Turbine Geometry work?
  5. Hi I know this thread is a little old but I appear to have the same issue, i.e. intermittent loss of acceleration! My immediate thought fairly obviously was turbo issues, maybe a pipe had split or come off. That doesn't appear to be the case. Acceleration was back working this morning leading me to think it could be a sticking turbo as above indicated above. Gypsyboy - did you get yours sorted? What was it? and what was the cost? cheers
  6. I should just point out, I have an estate and so its that model I require help with.
  7. The TDI engines are superb! economical and plenty quick enough, especially when you're carrying around the family. Don't be put of by the older shape, if you thats all your budget will allow its still an excellent option. Happy hunting, they are hard to come by unless you want to pay loads for one.
  8. Hi people I'm new to this site and after some help from fellow Passat owners, please. The rubber gasket around the base of my aerial is perished and requires replacing. To do this I believe I can lower the rear section of the headlining to get to the aerial. So can anyone please tell me how to lower or remove the headlining to get to the aerial? cheers
