  1. Hi Guru's I have previously owned an 'Stage 2 AMD S3' and 'Standard S4' and now want to enter the 'Mans' league... I am looking for the real life statistics that the Stealerships refrain to inform you and fully appreciate that the 2000/2001 RS4 is an expensive car to own and run though with our 32K budget i feel we should get a nice example? My only real requirement for our animal is that it needs to be an estate hence the choice of the new S4 Avant or oldSkool RS4 no BMW or Merc estate really does it for me 1: because of the X2 kids 2: because of my other child is a motorcross bike so please can you guys help me out on this one with the following kind of 'Reallife' Stats How much does to fill up the tank in £...? How many miles do you 'average' from a tank Average Full Service costs? Average Half Service costs? Cost of the Tyres- 'medioka tyres' Known Problems to look out for (Dodgy Gearboxes, rattly suspension, etc....) I asked these questions at our local stealer and they just gave me text book titte-tatty awnsers, i kind of said look im no fool so please do not tell me you get 37 MPG out of the 2003 4.8V8 S4 Avant and an average full service is £400..... (they had one on there forecourt and he wanted to sell it so badly) guys, my S3 wasn't even that cheap to run Or with 32K is the S4 avant an option- does it out kick the mighty RS4. My missus said the RS4 is starting to look dated , so i do appologise for her in advance Please help im so confused and 32K has left me with only one kidney so i need to make sure i can afford to run and own the beast. Hi, I currently own a Black S3 on a 'w-reg' with 50K on the clock. extra Audi options include; Electric recaros (Beige Alcantara and Black leather) Bose Upgrade Chrome Mirrors ESP The car has got the Stage 1 265BHP 'AMD remap' and the Piston DV valve. It's just been fully serviced and 4 spanking Michellien DSG tyres have been put on at the cost of a 100 per tyre It has full Stealer History except the past 2 where the 'AMD' crew have had it. - in my eyes this is worth more anyway as they actually look after it and do not treat you as a way to make money, then give your pride and joy to a teenage tw*t that belts it everywhere on his lunch break! Am looking to try out a BMW 325 or 330ci sport, anybody interested in potential part exchange?
  3. To be honest I don't really know how much it is worth, which is half my problem. The RS4 is definatlly an awsome tool, but i agree for the money it is getting pretty dated and to get a nice conditioned average milage example your looking a good 28-30K. M3?, never thought of that- wow are they in the 18K bracket now. So i stay in my dilemma, and hopefully await the day when the technology market shows signs of progressive recovery and my 'under the water shares' finnaly vest :-)..... Yeah Right!

FYI: i have had an S4 which was just too juicy and drive 80 odd miles a day- so a scooby or evo is so out of the question. what are your thoughts on the 330ci? Please help, im so confused
  5. The air vent that does the windscreen was only half opening and was jammed, therefore causing a wierd air deflect noise hence the whistling and why it wouldn;t go away when i shut.the heating system down
  6. Hi, Im seeking the technical difference between a divertor valve and Dump Valve. I know about as much as the dump vavle releases that embarrassing 'swoosh' when changing gear and that my S3 has a Divertor Valve and doesnl;t make that noise 'thank god!' but was wondering Whats the difference between the 2?
  7. Guru's I am wondering how fast my AMD-Stage 1 S3 is from 0-60. it is running 267BHP (rolling road output from AMD) and was just wondering what sort of 0-60 time that would give?
  8. i have to add that it does it even when i put it in Neutral at high speeds which is where i thought it was a leave or something caught somewhere.
  9. I did try to turn off the Air con completly but this did not make any difference i have just had it re-mapped... appologies for the ignorance guys, what pipes should i look for and how do i check for holes once i have the black cover off.
  10. Hi Guys, My audi S3 has developed a horrible whistling noise when i hit above 40 MPH, the noise is coming from the internal Air Vent that does/de-mists the front windscreen. To set the context: It sounds kind of like a window is open I took my pride and joy to the local stealership who took it on a 20 mile test drive the cheeky 's and they recognised that there is a noise coming from that location and it would be charged on an hourly basis to diagnose the cause if the noise. I have looked under there for the obvoius causes, leaves, loose Turbo heat bandages, tried to turn off the heaters and air flow to that top vent with no joy. Can anbody please give me some areas i could look into to rectify this horrible noise that is doing my head in. Many Thanks Steveooo
  11. Hi Guru's After having my S3 remapped (AMD stage 1), Until Just recently i have been experiancing a real strange noise. If i plant it through the gears it seems to be ok'ish, but does seem a little down on performance. If im in a high gear 5th/6th and just floor it from about 50MPH, this is what i get The turbo spins up and whistles as normal i get the initial boost and power delivery when the turbo spins up, then i get a sucking kind of noise and the power/tourqe seems to die down?? Im thinking some pipe or something is split? Is there any checks or troubleshooting i can do to see what the problem is?   12. Hi Guys, I have just had a horrible thought, About 2 months ago i had the AMD Stage 1 re-map on my car, and have totally overlooked the impact on my insurance premium... Being the sensible honest guy i am i want to notify my insurance company of my modification. How much on average can i expect this to increase my premiums? I dont want these to pull my pants down... What have your experiances in increase been? Some Notes: Im 29 years Old. 5+ years totally protected No Claims. No Points No accidents Current Insurance = £720 Fully Comp from Elephant. My Uncle has a Imported Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo (was Un-Modified) and although he was ahead of my AMD Stage 1 S3 i was completly on his tail all the way, i admit i never had enough power to overtake him and on the way back he said he also could not get passed me, but was kissing my arse all the way home so id say they where pretty competative.. THEN on way back from France he was proper gutted that a 1.8 S3 was able to keep up with his Pride and Joy, he phoned some Supra tunning house and for £600 he has now got his remapped to 500BHP and there is absoutly no compitition with the S3 that Toyota Supra is very very fast. Morale of this story- be aware of playing with the Jap's they have lots of unleashed power.
  14. Hi, My S3 has the half leather half Alcantera seats (Black and Cream) and the drivers seat is starting to show a little wear and is 'bobbling' if there is such a word. Im sure i am not the only owner with this problem and was throwing out the question/.... is there anything on the market i can use to minimise this wear and tear and what do you guys do?
