1. Hi, I want to install digital TV in my A6, does anyone know if the tuners offered from suppliers such as Kufatec work in the UK? Thanks for any advice.
2. Hi, I'm in the process of collecting all the bits to do the Sat Navi+ install into my 2001 A6. I managed to find a double din cage at a breakers but I am not sure it is complete. Should there be a secondary bracket behind the front section? VAG Parts say they do supply the bracket section separately. Anyone any ideas? This is the din cage I've got:- and this appears to be the bit missing:-
3. Hi all, My Mum's '99 1.0 litre Polo, not only has a rev counter (don't laugh) but it has gone wrong. Even with the ignition off, the counter reads 2000 rpm. When at idle, it is 3000. Any ideas why this would have happened? Thanks!
4. Hi there, I would like some help with the above. Has anyone out there done this? I would like to know how to convert the cat to install the correct Audi Sat nav for my model, a 2001 A6 with Bose. Any help on how easy it was, what needed changing (wiring etc.) and what were the problems. Thanks in advance, Paul
5. I have a 2001 model - a wonderful car to drive; effortless power. Switch out of Auto mode into Tip and you stir the beast. The 4.2s have the unique flared wheel arches, shared only with the RS6 Now the bad bits... The V8 adds extra weight to the front. Not sure you'll notice any handling diffencies on public roads; it sticks like Sh*t to a blanket! They do wear the tie rod ends though. Mine, while under warranty, was a regular at Audi. It was using too much oil (even for an Audi!!). The stealer diagnosed worn oil guide rubbers (p*ss cheap parts) but requires a major engine out repair. I have heard others say that this a known fault of the 4.2 power-plant. Other faults were a water leak from the expansion hose (another design fault), leaks from the Quattro g/box (another common Audi fault - technician said " they all seap"). Having said all this, I adore the car. The effortless torque, I dislike manuals in normal driving and the tip box is ideal for me. Would I buy another one?? Answer:- yes. I did thibk about the 2.7 but as the old saying goes, there is no substitue for cubic inches. The stance is so greatly improved with the flared arches, so for me the 4.2 was a no-brainer. Basically, you pay your money, you make your choice. If you do buy the 4.2 you'll not be dissapointed. Just check the oil consumption before handing over cash!
6. That's really my point. Last week I had to re-fit the vacuum hoses after the stealer failed to do this after an engine out warranty work. Then I find the brake issue, can they do anything right??? I know everyone makes mistakes but it seems greater attention to detail is needed at Stealer HQ. For those interested, the garage is a large one located over the M23 (Junction 10a) near Crawley and they sell Audis
7. I too have always had a courtesy car. One Saturday, I was sitting there (one of my many visits) when the service guy was telling a punter that they had no cars for two weeks. When it was my turn, he said no problem you can have one Monday. I said hold on, you told that guy you did not. He grinned and said that they have different policies, depending on what work is being done, for me, I have an Audi TT Quattro. Another time a A6, for a week! Change your garage. And yes my garage also never has any parts!!!
8. Fixed it Turned out to be the stealer fitted my rear brake pads incorrectly!! They managed to get the outer pad anti rattle spring through the caliper instead of it doing its job stopping the pad from bouncing around! I ask you, why when you pay the bast*rds £90 an hour do they still manage to co*k it up!
9. Hi all, I have a 2001 A6 Quattro which has developed a funny metallic rattle coming from the nearside as I drive along bumpy roads. I can only really here it with the passnger side windows open but it annoys me like mad. It stops when either I click on the handbrake a couple of clicks or touch the foot brakes. I have yet to go under and poke around, I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas? Thanks, Paul
10. Well, I've replaced all the old, brittle hoses with new ones. Front ones were easy, one of the rear ones was a pain to get to. Now, I've replaced the hoses, the throttle response is much better, even my wife noticed!! The brakes also seem to have more servo effect (I've just had new discs & pads fitted so perhaps the improvement is them bedding in). So, my advice - take off the plastic shields and check your vacuum hoses. My car is less than 5 years' old and they were well rotten. If they break, you don't throw a fault code, so you don't know they are shot unless you look.
11. I was told every 2 years the system should be vacuumed out and re-charged. I had an offer from Audi for £99, paid a mobile local guy £60, a cup of tea and had it done on my drive
12. Got one in Haywards Heath
13. Hi, I went for a drive in an RS4 and S6 today, then came home in my 2001 4.2 A6 Quattro. I was poking around the bonnet and found that the small vacuum hoses, that run under the engine cover, were either broken or not connected to the blue three sphere thingy that sits low down behind the headlight. I read the engine codes and found nothing. After a little swearing, I repaired and re-fitted the pipes (they really need replacing, which I'll do). My question is... does anyone know what does this system does? Thanks for any help!!
14. Just to let you know... my new MAF FINALLY arrived; £213 from VAG. Changed it in 10 mins (would have been 5 if Audi had not been daft enough to put the two bolts that hold it on at 12 and 6'O Clock position). Went for a spin, no fault codes, fuel trim perfect, correct breathing 243g/sec. Problem solved :-D
