  1. Shark, mate. Which bit is bobbins? The EPS kicks in more cos of a remap? or it doesn't damage the ESP? It's well documented on Audi sport net that with the extra power the remap gives it can cause the ESP problems. Don't shoot the messenger!
  2. Can I have an ice cream? I've been good!
  3. Sorry dad! Thought you might have known ESP is never fully off!
  4. I'd not had a ESP issue.....until my S3 was remapped! Apparently, it's best to drive with the ESP off if it's remapped cos the engine doesn't like the way the ESP cuts the power. After all, ESP will cut in if you really need as the system is never fully off.
  5. I had to change one of my front fogs cos of a smashed lens, ordered it from VAG parts (part no. 8L9 941 699 for front left foglight (right as you look at it from the front)and tried to fit it myself. The screws that held it in were corroded so when I had some other bits done at APS I asked them if they could fit it for me. They had to take the bumper off to do it.
  6. I saw a black debadged S3 in Ibiza without the alloy mirrors and it just looked like a nice A3, only the flared arches and exposed exhausts give it away on an 8L. I heard of a quy who had a RS4 Avant(old shape) and put a 1.9TDi badge on the back, again, only flared arches, fcuk off discs and exposed exhaust pipes gave that away to the untrained eye. It's why I like Audi's really, nice and subtle!
  7. It happenes to my brothers A3 1.8T too. It's happened about 6 times to me all int eh space of a year, and it didn;t do it before so I guess there is something a rye underneath it. I'll explore the route Mo-S3 suggested and see if I get anywhere with that. Cheers for the feedback!
  8. I did own 2 old mini's and I know what you mean, but this isn't that I don't think. I've only recently had the coil packes changed too. I think it's what Mo-S3 suggested or at least that's somewhere to start.
  9. Cheers Mo-S3! I've mentioned to Ed @ APS and they will have a look at it for me, thanks for steering me in the right direction, it seems to be what the problem is!
  10. I was guessing what it was as it seemed to be related to the gearbox cos if I take it out of gear it doesn't do it. You can feel it knocking through the gearstick though. That could be something to do with it, thanks for the input Mo-S3, it's been driving me crazy. I'll speak to APS again and say what you've said. I do have a knocking from the underside of my car and it's only been doing the water thing since that. DOes anyone else have any ideas, at this stage as much input as I can get would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
  11. Hi all, just wondering if anyone can help me with this rather strange problem. When driving in the rain (2002 S3 8L) if I go through standing water a little bit too fast or it's a little deeper than it looks I get this huge vibration through the transmission shaking the whole car. It's bloody terrifying! It's def something to do with the transimission as if I take it out of gear and rev it whilst moving it doesn;t do it. It lasts for about 3-8 secs then it's fine again. I have no idea what this could be and I've even mentioned it to APS but they don't know what it could be either. Just wondering if anyone else has this happening to their 8L A3/S3. It scares the life out of me when it does it and sounds like it would be expensive to repair! Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! As usual, I'm not having much luck with my car Thanks in advance guys
  12. Ah! I only came in for 5 mins just to pick up my motor and then was gone. You were there for hours then? I know reception is quite nicely kitted out but that's a long time to wait, even when you are working. And Brackley? Less said about that place the better I think!
  13. I picked up my car friday afternoon about 3.30pm from APS, were you there then? The waiting room seemed busy. I work just round the corner from APS so it's perfect for dropping my car off and picking up on a working day. 250 round trip, that's commitment for you!
  14. After a year or so of ummimg and ahing I finally took the plunge and had my 8L S3 remapped at AP Services in Brackley. All I can say is fantastic service from Ed an the guys and to say I'm more than happy would be an understatement. While I was there I had cruise control and R32 anti-roll bars fitted too. I couldn't possilbly drive a standard S3 now, the extra power feels great and driving effortless. The anti-roll bars have made quite a difference too, it feels so much more precise on turn and flatter through the corners. Need to get the haldex upgrade now as my DSC likes to light up a bit. Anyone considering the remap, I can highly recommend it as I'm sure most on this site would agree. The car feels like a different beast all together now. Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you guys and sing the praises of Ed, Paul and Andy at APS. I'm one happy punter!
  15. I think that advert is the result from a "creative" advertising agency who like to dissapear up their own bottoms, high 5 and pat each other on the back far too often. Completely irrelevant to the product it's supposed to be selling. Not saying it's a bad idea, but does nothing for car, brand or image IMO. C'mon, Audi, you can do better than that!
  16. Sorry, here's the contact details: www.autops.co.uk 01280 840491 Speak to Ed or Paul.
  17. The remap they offer is there own, but they used the AMD remap as a starting point. Apparantly it is slightly more conservative then the Revo remap for example, ie not running quite as much boost. I had a good long conversation with Ed about it all a litle while back.
  18. Nice one! I'd heard good things too so thought I'd try them out and pass on the info but it seems you all know about it anyway.
  19. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned on here before but thought I'd share this with you guys anyway. There is a (new) tuning house specialising in Audis. It's called AP Services and is based at Brackley. The two main guys who run it are ex AMD (Ed and Paul). They are doing the 8L remap for the S3 for approx £360 plus VAT and run a full diagnostic plus mechanical checks prior to remapping to let you know of any problems that could arise. They also offer a full refund if you don't like the remap. I'm just waiting for the spare few hundred and I'm there for my remap. Anyway, just thought I'd share that with lot here, sorry if it's a repost. Cheers....Doogs
  20. Recently my car alarm keeps going off for no reason on my S3. I think I've just switched the motion sensors off (is it red light off or on to turn the sensor off?) to see if its faulty movement sensors. has anyone else had this problem? Any advice would be greatly recieved.
  21. Sorted! One of the small hoses had fatigued underneath the engine cover, it was the small one of the two that feeds in directly behind the top of the head (I'm very technincal as you can tell! ). Anyway, I've re attached the hose and all is fine! Thanks for your help guys, saved me a trip to the garage!
  22. AMD is on my way to work, Paul. I'll see what I an find today and if there's no problem I can see, I'll have to drop into AMD then. I don't pay stealer labour rates! cheers for your advice guys!
  23. Is the DV expensive? I really could do without big expenses right now! Great to know you put it in the stealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Also, you made the decision yourself to change something after mentioning it to them and them dismissing it. Gotta love Audi stealers eh?! No quacking from my car, it's just gutless!
  24. My S3 is standard and not modded in anyway. Is it an expensive fix if it's pipes, or can I do it myself? I hope it's cheap and I can do it cos after 2 new tyres, an expensive service and a holiday booked to Ibiza, I'm skint!
