  1. Well, I have decided to keep the Merc a bit longer. I have driven several A6's and whilst very nice I think I will miss some features of the Merc. Trouble is my car is top spec, to get a similar spec A6 is quite hard, very few autos around and cruise control seems very rare. I also want leather seats too so I am asking for rather alot that is almost standard on the Mercs. I was also not too impressed with the handling of the A6, nice on main roads and motorways but a bit 'vague' cross country!! I know it is a bigger car than the C-class so to be expected. I shall look again in 6 months or so and try and find a high spec quattro.
  2. I am seriouisly beginning to think that I would be better off with a petrol or a 1.9TDi for economy but I think the 1.9Tdi in an A6 will feel unerpowered against what I am used to. Unless of course I go for an A4 instead, does the 130bhp TDi A4 feel lively enough and will that get 45+mpg?
  3. Hmm, very interesting. I was thinking of replacing my Mercedes C250TD with an A6 2.5TDi, but if they only manage 30mpg I may as well save some money and get a higher spec petrol. Mind you I struggle to get more than 30mpg with the Merc unless it's on long trips.
  4. Hi, I am new to this forum. I have been a Mercedes owner/driver for the last 6 years and have now decided to change to an Audi A6 Avant. I would like some advice on what to look for and to avoid when looking at buying a secondhand A6. I am used to diesels, having a C250TD auto for the last 3 years. I have test driven a 1.9Tdi 130bhp 6-speed and was very impressed, I did have my mind set on a 2.5TDi Quattro, these seem to be quite rare especially with leather. I was after a diesel because thats what I have always prefferred but the thought of a 2.7 biturbo with 250bhp is quite tempting!! Are the A6's in general reliable? Are the Quattro's that much better? (I am used to RWD not FWD) Is it worth paying the premium for a diesel, I only do about 10K a year. Anything I should be looking for? I appreciate your help and advice.
