New Citroen C5

Been mulling over this for half a day now and still not sure. SMOKE6.GIF

Yes, there are still some Citroen quirks, namely the concave rear window on the saloon and the asymmetric alloys - although of course these might not make production. However, the hydraulic suspension is now optional, and the practical hatchback has been dropped with Citroen favouring a saloon like the sister Peugeot 405/6/7.

Dad would never be stupid enough to buy one new, but he will probably go for a test drive in a mid spec 2.0 or 2.2 diesel 6 speed manual with hydropneumatic. Citroen did promise us a sequential twin turbo [diesel] four pot a while back which would be storming for overtaking punch. However, it would pretty much negate the need for the 2.7 V6, possibly why it won't be available at launch.

It does look quite like a Passat and it does have a fair few elements of Mondeo in the mix but it is a better resolved design than either.

I know some on here will probably never agree but the current Passat definitely looks odd/wrong from certain angles. I don't think this does - at least not from the pictures.

As for the interior - it is the button fest for the air/sound (and probably some of the materials used) that kill it. Otherwise the black interior looks ok to me.

Can't help thinking that it will more or less kill the C6 stone dead though.

Oh, and it's still French and badly built NONO3.GIF

I think the V6 Tdi 2.7 is the same one Jag use, fantastic refinement, due to avons fancy active engine mounting using *ahem* someone's fancy magnets which paid someone very handsomely thanks !

Like the styling, but like all things French, it will fall apart, starting with the electrics...
