Rebadging/Debadging your car

Hi John and welcome to TSN! 169144-ok.gif

I bought mine second hand with the 3.7 badge on the back. Had it come without one, i would probably not have bothered as i'm of the belief that the car's main appeal is the look and shape (which speak for itself IMO), not the litres under the bonnet. I think the car's poise will speak for itself rather than the badge but that's just me.

Also, it may be worthwhile in london keeping the badge off as so many 'gas guzzlers' i see have been keyed...including one A8! EEK2.GIF

Show us some of your car's pictures!!! jump.gif

I must say my 02 d2 3.7 a8 had been debadged and it did look good. Nice and clean lines. Its more something you do to hide the fact its a lower spec vehicle.

Personally I dont see the point of having a w12 with a 3.0 tdi badge on it defeats the purpose. Plus the side badges look really cool.

I guess some people have problems with vandalism so they have their reasons. Also its not very eco friendly but its not like a 4x4. People just dont know what they are.

Agreed with Alera... I usually view debadged cars as lower spec but I can see the point in some areas where vandalism is likely to be an issue (such as the eco warriors who vandalise 'gas guzzlers' without understanding the true green credentials of vehicles like the A8 or the real environmental impact of 'green' cars like the Toyota 'Pious' - let alone the tax dodging Lexus Hybrids - but thats a different rant!).

Personally I prefer them with badges on, but your mileage may vary...

[ QUOTE ]

The service guy at Listers Worcester said that they have a customer with a W12 that is badged as a 3.0TDi.

That's a bit sad IMHO.

I had the A8 and engine size badges taken off the W12, but left the S8 badge on the back of that, but i did have the cheesy V10 badges taken off the front.

I've had the model and engine badges taken off the allroad because it's a much cleaner look. I suspect that whatever I get next will be model and engine debadged, even if it's an A6 of sorts... wink.gif

Well my car has always been debadged (shows off that sexy beehind cool.gif) but it didn't stop someone from ripping the aerial off the other day, though I suspect it was a chav or drunken lout that did that. Suppose it could be worse he could have used the mast to scratch the paint work.

I like both ways tbh, if you've got lots of litres, then tell em you mean business, however, no badges is also good as they dont know what is lurking under the bonnet ECLIPSe.gif

Just personal choice imo. 169144-ok.gif

If i had a W12, then that would def stay on, coz that just says big, thursty and f*******n fast the_finger.gif

People who know what you're driving and can appreciate it for what it is won't be bothered by the badge or lack thereof.

People who don't know what you're driving and can't appreciate it because they lack interest or knowlegde will be no better off for seeing the badge anyway.

Your badge says more about what you want the world to think about you rather than what the world actually thinks about you; especially if you try to change their perceptions... znaika.gif

Thanks for all your worthy replies, chaps. I think I'll forego the badges - it's looks really neat with no A8, no Audi four-rings, no engine badge & no Quattro.

I drove up the A303 after work from Street to N.London cruising at 80-ish, averaging 60+mph and 34 mpg - average over the past 1000 miles is 32 mpg (no urban driving). Overtook most vehicles, was overtaken by two Transits, a "Toerag" and a couple of others.
