Rustynuts
Following on from a new system and a bit of upgrading to the kids computers I've got a bit of stuff available if it's any use. It's all about 4 years old. As it stands I've got a pre modded silver case with side window and sound reactive lights inside, 350watt power supply in it, dvd rom drive, floppy drive, Asus A7N8X E Deluxe MoBo (I'm suspicious this was the faulty part which required the new system) Athlon xp1800 processor and heatsink, Sapphire ATI Radeon 9200se graphics card, Firewire card, and modem card all installed. There's no hard drive or memory with it, but the system comes with Windows XP and the license. The whole thing was working (just) with a windows install on it until I pulled the memory for an upgrade. It could be used (mobo permitting) as a basic machine if anyone has a drive and memory going spare, or if someone wants to knock up a Linux machine maybe, but I can't guarantee the MoBo will accept an install. It wouldn't for me as the sata drivers needed for the hard drive wouldn't install. Maybe a standard IDE drive would work. Really needs to be collected as I'm not sure it's worth trying to courier it. If no one wants it as a unit then it'll be split and the parts sold to anyone who wants. Beer money only for this if anyone wants it so make me an offer if anything sounds like it'll help you out. Rustynuts
No one want any bits for spares? There's a stick of memory (512mb pc2700 DDR Kingston) in there aswell, as it wasn't compatible with the daughters machine. So a new ide hard drive might have you a working machine. craigyb
I wish I was a timelord and got to snog Billy Piper and Kylie but I have been in computing since I was 16 and that was over 28 years ago, so 7 computing lifetimes.

Rustynuts
Memory sold & shipped. Anyone for anything else before it goes to the tip?
Rustynuts
Being the trusting soul that I am, I accepted a fiver for the memory delivered. The buyer said he needed it quickly so could I send it as soon as possible. Shipped it out the next day or so, and still waiting for the cash. FFS! A fiver! Some people really are tight. Rustynuts
This fella. To be honest, I ain't bothered about the money really. It covers the cost of postage etc. which is good, but the initial intention was to let people have the stuff dirt cheap as a TSN favour if it would help anyone out before it went to the skip, hence 512Mb of memory for £5 delivered. It's not worth pursuing anyone for such a small amount, it's just the principle.
paul_tdi
Reading some of his posts he has made he seems like a bit of a prize prat. I could not agree more with your comments Rusty, the whole ethos of trust and common decency has been abused. Impressed with how you have only revealed who it was when quizzed about it. Rustynuts
Indeed I do, but it's a little far to travel for such a small amount. I may send him a Christmas card this year.
