As one of those people who browse the tyresmoke a4 cab forum as an 'anonomous' person sekret.gif, on the WHO'S ONLINE list and then gone again, I thought I should break cover and show you a quick flash of my new cab. I popped up a little while it was on order but haven't been out of it since I got it ! smlove2.gif

It's Atlas Grey, 1.8T with sport pack, light grey leather and interior....

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I do love the colour!

More photos to follow.

Superb! notworthy.gif

I like the cabrio in subtle colours like this to be honest. My favourites are

Moro Blue

Ebony Black

Atlas Grey

Some people might not find these choices inspiring but each to their own.

What colour interior have you got there? Hard to tell in the photos.

Cool car mate! beerchug.gif

(1.8T engine better than you'd think too don't you find?)

Ari

glad you like the car grin.gif. I chose leather seats, trim and carpets all in light grey and they compliment the atlas grey paint very well.

It is the stylish and understated thinking man's cab! sekret.gif

Pleased to say that after reading all posts on this forum with worrying regularity leading up to the delivery date, and worrying about -

frown.gifhood problems

frown.gifsqueeks

frown.gifleaks

frown.gifwindow faults

frown.giftransmission probs etc

..... I haven't encountered a single problem. jump.gif (the doors will drop off now I've said that)

I think the 1.8t engine is a little underpowered but the engine is still young. I imported a 1.8t golf gti for my wife last year and after 12,000 miles the engine is now sweeeeet. rocketwhore.gif The cab pulls away up hill feeling like a heavy car. However, in the gti I try to race around everywhere but in the cab I find that if you go too fast pedestrians get cross because you don't give them chance to stare!! the_finger.gif

I'd been wondering myself how long the 1.8T lump took to fully loosen up. Not that I'm unhappy, quite the opposite, it has exceeded my expectations, providing strong real world performance and pretty good economy (for a heavy car).

My previous cars (Honda Civic) engine improved for the entire 24000 miles I put on it from new.

My cab had 5000 on when I bought it and it definately feels better now (~10000 miles).

I really notice that on cool, dank mornings it runs really well (nice dense charge, noticable on lots of cars but more pronounced on this one).

I noticed some other 1.8T owners on this site saying that they got really good results using high octane super-unleaded / optimax type fuels. I think a lot of them may have been running chipped or higher standard output versions of the engine. Have any of you any experience with the 163BHP version as fitted to the cab?

Cheers

Really pleased with my 1.8T cabrio, better than expected.

I only have about 7,000 miles on mine but my last two cars (both 1.8T A3's) really started to loosen up at around 20,000 miles so I think mines got pleanty of scope to improve.

I use only Shell Optimax in mine and I think it helps a little.
