drpellypo
I don't use shampoo at all with my foam. The citrus especially does have cleaning power.
alexc
some foam products react to shampoo and can strip wax, it's always worth following the suppliers instructions with the product you decide to go with!
Tarmac_Terrorist
Perhaps that's why some recommend applying to a wet car!?
drpellypo
I spoke to the chemical company that make the stuff about this, and they say always only use the foam, not mixed with anything, and always to a dry surface.

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe the manufacturer would not want us mixing it with anything because we then would use less of their product!!
drpellypo
That's very true - but, they also supply my shampoo, so that theory is two sided!
Rustynuts
Had another workout on the van this weekend. Back to basics... T-Cut the whole lot, then Megs shampoo washed, then Autoglym Super Resin Polish applied with my £15 Focus diy buffer, then a hand polish off (cos I was getting short of time). AvantSE
Tut, spend a fiver on a Karcher foam bottle and see what happens...
alera
Surely all these "generic" snow foams are made by the same company or couple or companies anyway ? Alot of the basic ones seem to be the same sort of price, similar packaging and labels etc, I wouldnt be surprised if most of those on offer are pretty much the same.. This DP Xtreme Foam does interest me though if it does a better job on the cleaning front. I wont be mixing any of the foams with other detergents; mixing chemicals is generally a bad idea you dont know how they are going to react...... I have heard some of these foams can strip wax, do they all do this or are some worse than others ?
drpellypo
Basic foams - there are two so far as I know. Mine, and Autobrites. All the others that you see on various traders sites come from the same place as mine. My foam will not strip wax if the guidelines on application are followed. alera
Will Autobrites strip wax then ?
drpellypo
Not so far as I know - no. Although I only ever used it once.
steelwind101
Gents: The snowfoam works b/c its foamie and clingy and locks on to the dirt. As its moist it softens it ups. Its not b/c it has (as far as i know) active ingredients like you might get in Traffic Film Remover. A snowfoam that will clean and uses active ingredients is Ultrafoam, i believe the Citrus Foam does the same. ALera, DP Xtreme does clean just as much as normal PH balanced soap does. The main thing is it lubricates and you can foam and wash your car with the foam. Foam the wheels and clean them with wheel brushes etc. But it costs alot more for a gallon. [/ QUOTE ] The 5L SSF i've just received from Autobrite says clearly on the label that it doesn't strip wax. However, it does suggest applying to a wet vehicle.
