craigyb
Picked up the new A8 4.2 Tdi yesterday afternoon. I had to change 10 wheels over myself in the pouring rain, but worth it in the end. I couldn't believe the MPG on my return journey. And what a smooth engine, not as good as the W12, but still a cracking drive. Already fitted the AMI and updated the software to 5150. The latest Nav disk should be here next week along with the 3 spoke TIP steering wheel and airbag. Here are some pics with the original 19" wheels on, it now has the 20" s-lines fitted. Merlot
Nice car and a good price. I was looking at that one on the web a couple of weeks ago. How does the 'normal' air suspension compare with the 'sports' air on the W12?
craigyb
I think the ride quality is excellent, especially with the comfort seats. Even my GF commented on how comfortable the car was.

cruiser647
What was wrong with the 19"'s on it? They look pretty damn good to me! Now that's what an interior should look like! BMW - take note. However, not so sure about silver........
craigyb
I have never liked the 5 spoke wheels
alera
I like the silver. With a dark interior its the most desirable on the resale market for sure....

Ska
Thats niiice, congrats on the new purchase , but whats wrong with the 19" RS6 replica wheels?
TDiAvant
I agree with Craig on the wheels, they look great on the RS6, but not that good on the A8. So much so I've also just replaced the alloys om my A8.
a8seve
Great car Craig and the interior looks like mine too.
nebw
Hope it serves you well. Only a sensible wife stopped me getting to that one before you ! Best mpg I got from a 4.2tdi was 43mpg average, down the M6 from Manchester to Birmingham, averaging 70mph. Unbelievable. I can recommend replacing the panel air filters with Jetex ones - gave mine a little bit of induction whoosh, and a wee bit more oomph as well. After all, that tiny little V8 twin turbo engine needs all the help it can get...

[/ QUOTE ] I may have to change the grill anyways for the radar sensor for ACC. I'm looking at fitting the 2008 facelift D3 grill and foglights. alera
You managed to get Audi to sell you the loom for the adaptive cruise control then ?
craigyb
Wiring loom isn't the issue, it was getting a cluster out of Audi that was the problem. But the new A8 has the wide DIS so problem solved.
Gadgeteer
Hey Craigyb, Its been fun reading about your new toy - sounds like my ideal car. I've got a lot of the same gadgets but didn't manage to find them on an oil burner. I'd be interested to hear how the ACC fitting goes and what you think of it when its working. I use mine all the time but it takes some getting used to. The main problem I find is that it brakes a bit harder than I'd like it to if the car in front slows a bit. I'd rather it coasted more. If you learn about any adaptation settings that can tweak that it would be really useful. A have looked around but didn't find much, only engine/body/regional settings. Cheers, Gadgeteer 1283603-AudiA8AdaptationCodes.pdf
Dilligaf10
Nice car. Just collected my A8L also in silver with black leather. Mine is the 3.0TDi as economy is most important as I run an executive car company. Upgraded from an A6, wow what a car! Don't think I have found all the toys on there yet but the ride is exceptional and passengers already commenting on the legroom. Like being in business class.
