Mook
No. That's way over the top. You'd realistically expect to pay about £12K tops for a 53 plate privately. People will scream and complain that their cars aren't worth anything any more, but it's the harsh reality of it. Sales of big engined cars are slowing down and January is the second worst month to sell a car after December. Someone may try to convince you that the extras increase the price, which is just bollox - it makes the car easier to sell. If you want to put 19" wheels on it, you'll need to get the same profile as the 225/40/18s that are on it as standard, so you'll need 225/35/19s or 235/30/19s (which will give you a slightly larger rolling circumference. Tonsko
Dang. Does that mean the 16K I paid last january for an 03 with 33K on the clock was over the odds? It was a dealer price...

Tonsko
Cheers guys, that's a relief. Looks like I just bought it a year early then! No way could I wait that long once I had decided to get it...
Mook
Just be glad of the fact that you've only lost £4K in a year
Sugarj
Come June time this year I'll be looking to sell my 53 Oct2003 5 door silver R32. It has had only one owner other than me and has only done 22,000 miles with full VW service history. I'll be looking for £12500 or thereabouts as an indication. Mook
Look I don't want to put the dampeners on things - ask £12.5K, but don't expect to get much over £11K. Maybe a bit less by then - it'll be the best part of 5 years old. But while you've still got it, enjoy it
