DVI to HDMI

Hi Guys, I just purchased a PS3 and a hdmi cable. However when I went to hook it up to my tv, I found that it has no hdmi connection, which I found strange considering it is a relatively new 42" Philips LCD. It does however have a dvi port. Is there any way I can buy a converter or something to connect hdmi - dvi or is it worth my while?

It'll work for the purpose it's designed for - connecting 2 HDMI signals and splitting an HDMI signal and sending the output to 2 screens. That's not what you want to do though - you said your TV doesn't have an HDMI input so this device would be useless.

The options I see are to connect the PS3 to the TV using component cables (3 cables for video and 2 for audio) and use the speakers in the TV (assuming the TV has component input which I'd be very surprised if it didn't).

Alternatively connect the PS3 using DVI (either using an HDMI-DVI converter or an HDMI-DVI lead) and deal with the sound by an external amplifier by taking the digital optical output from the PS3.

You can also use the PS3 HDMI/DVI for picture and then use the seperate components (the red/white ones) to send the audio signals to the audio input on the TV.

Your problem might be getting the TV to accept seperate audio/video signals in which case it's back to using the component inputs on the TV and not getting HD via DVI.
