grdunn123
Thinkong of getting some new alloys for the 8. Have been looking at some RS6 replicas with tyres for about £900? 19 inchers.....are the replicas any good??
Ska
Reps are more often heavier than OE wheels But having said that I'm running 19 rs6 and have no complaints. Shop around you may be able to get them cheaper.
grdunn123
How durable are they? judt worried that the paint starts to flake and corrosion sets in? I'm needing new tyres soon anyway and thought it might be a good time to try some new wheels
alantong
I would be a bit wary of ebay as you dont want a dodgy wheel that fails at speed. Some I am sure are OK, but you never know. Also beware of buying sets of wheels / tyres - you must make sure the load rating of the tyres is correct. I recently bought a new set of wheels and tyres from Elite as they really seem to know their stuff. "A8 Style" wheels are about £80 each for 18 inch and £100 for 19. After a lot of research it seems as if the Goodyear Eagle F1 Aysmetric is the current best tyre (make sure you dont get fobbed off with the older styles of F1). I had wheels / tyres / new bolts / audi logos etc shipped direct to my house and fitted them at home. A link for the audi wheels on the Elite site is http://www.elitedirect.com/01_alloy_wheels/1-collection_audi.php5 Regards Alan PS Not trying to plug Elite - sure there are plenty of other good places around. I was impressed with them though.
grdunn123
I've been looking at a website called wheel-base.co.uk who are offering 19 inch RS6 with Kumho tyres for £900, guy I spoke to reckoned the load rating was fine? alantong
Are these the same? http://www.elitedirect.com/01_alloy_whee...=Audi&pmod= If so save yourself £100 or spend more on better tyres? Have a look at http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallpapers/Videos.aspx?AR=228551&Mode=B and also www.tyrereview.co.uk Regards Alan
grdunn123
They are similar....I'm probably gonna finance them as they do 0% finance. I know they're more expensive but it would suit my finances to do it that way. Thanks for the lead though Alan
Atomic
Used to use Elite 2 decades ago, surprised and impressed they are still around
grdunn123
2 decades ago? Must've been selling square wheels that far back?
Atomic
Was a 16v Jetta. Wheels wernt quite square... If I recall (and things are somewhat vague so please give me a little leeway...) I used to have 205x16" Pirelli zero's on it. Prior to that I used to get em to fit Goodyear Eagle NCT's on my Metro Turbo. Nice grippy tyres, pity they only lasted 5-6 months on the front!
