While I can get the Phonebook up no problem I can't figure out how I can get the Txt's up on the Nav Screen. Any help would be appreciated. craigyb
Which phone system do you have in the car? The basic phone prep doesn't support text The SAP system supports text if your phone supports rSAP which is remote sim access profile. As far as I know the motorolas do not support SAP. Crusader01
Thanks Craig, Got the full factory fit Audi Bluetooth. Can't see any mention of SAP or rSAP on the Motorola Web site. Just out of interest do you know what phones can actually use the TXT feature on the MMI? Thanks C
craigyb
OK, but there are two phone preps available for the A5 with MMI. The basic HFP (hands free profile) which doesn't support text messages and has a cradle plate in the armrest. The SAP (sim access profile) phone system doesn't have a cradle plate in the armrest, but can have a handset in the armrest. This system supports TEXT messages as long as you have a SAP profile phone and you have connected to the phone in SAP mode. Nearly all new Nokias support SAP, Some Siemens BenQ phones and the HTC PDA phones.
Crusader01
I see, I don't have any cradles or car handsets. So sounds like I should be able to get it bar the lack of appropriate phone. I will try and borry one and try it. Thanks for that Craig. craigyb
Ok, sounds like you have a SAP system, but a non SAP phone. If you look in the MMI display you should see a "phone" icon. This will change to a "sim" icon when you are using rSAP.
