Early ones didnt have the boot release, or alarm sensor as per LostKiwis 95 model. By 1997, you should have both in the drivers B pillar right through to 2003, although on the facelift, the finish on the buttons changed slightly if you want to go for 100% accuracy 169144-ok.gif

Note also on the early ones, there was no remote central locking. Infra red locking was an option, and only seemed to be fitted to about 1/3 of cars that we've seen...

Once again, 1997 saw everyone get radiowave central locking, initially with a fixed key with three buttons, and by the end of 1997 the familiar swing out blade was here...

It does that as a security thing, it only does it if you unlock the car and then don't open a door within a certain time. It's in case you accidentally hit the unlock button and don't realise that you have.

It saves you ending up with an unlocked car without realising it.

Unless you've got a fault you can't lock the keys in the car this way.
