Thorburn
When I'm changing over the insurance on my car is it better to just get day insurance on the new car, drive it home on that and then sort out changing my existing policy over once I'm back? I ask as I'm not sure what sort of time I'll be picking up my new car and don't want to be rushing to get there or hanging around waiting for the policy to switch over. Drinks
I'm picking up a new car today. I told my insurers what time I was collecting my car and then kept my current car on the policy for an additional day. There was an option to keep it on the policy for up to 1 month. IIRC you need to tax the car, so you'll need a insurance certificate. I didn't think you could tax a car on a day policy?
Thorburn
I was planning on collecting tomorrow on a day insurance, then garaging it until Tuesday when I'd have the insurance switched over and could tax the car.
fizzbitt
My insurer has a cross over period where you can insure a second car for a limited time. Cost me £40 for the week when i was in ownership of both my old GT4 and a Civic VTi which i was replacing it with.
