cabby
The gas fire in our caravan has stopped lighting. It initially ignites but as soon as remove the fire lighter and turn to the 'on' position the flame goes out. I have had a look at the valve and seen an adjustment screw so was wondering if I can try this before calling someone in. Pic of valve I have also posted a picture of the fire with cover removed if this helps. Of course if this requires more than something simple I will call in a corgi person but thought worth asking first. Cheers
Rustynuts
That's not an adjustment screw, that's a pressure test point used for checking the correct gas pressure at the appliance. Sounds like the thermocouple has gone, so best be calling someone out to have a look. They'll need to be CORGI registered, have their LPG certificate, and also have the Caravans certificate or they're not registered to touch it. The thermocouple is the little probe that sits in the pilot flame, and the other end of that probe is connected to the gas tap where that copper wire goes into the end. pingpongpo
I concur with the thermocouple theory. Either that or on my old gas fire it had a microswitch which kept on coming undone. Which basically had the same effect. Ripped it out now though and fitted a new spanky one
