bullett
Looking for some advice here. Got 2 letters from these guys today. Very vague, personal metter, contact us asap etc etc. A quick google found them listed on numerous forums as debt collectors, based in Scotland. Apparently they buy up old debts and then chase for payment. They seem to be chancers with very little law on thier side. I have had a quick check on Expirian and can find no problems (flawless payment record). I don't know of any debts I'm owing except for a disagreement with NTL a few years back in my old flat which was basically a case that I gave notice and they didn't accept that I had. My plan is to just bin the letter and forget about it. Thoughts?
Dave
Ignore it... even if they are debt collectors they still need to work inside the law.
saab
They may be after information on a current or existing neighbour who has debt problems - i have been contacted in the past by companies asking if I had forwarding addresses for people who lived near me and have since moved. Either way if you are satisfied that you haven't defaulted on any payments etc, or broken any credit agreements - and generally people do know becuase companies generally do correspond with you at length before taking matters further, I would be inclined to ignore the letters and wait and see what happens next. Don't bin them until you are completely satisfied that it has completely gone away.
ChadW
Got a load of their letters for debts owed by previous occupants of my home. Just ring them up as its not an 08xx number and they just tell them to update their records with new occupant as per land registry records. Not had one for ages so think they have got the message now. Abbey Bank and O2 are very pesistent with their debt collecting btw. We are talking hundreds of pounds but 18 months on they are still after it even though my name is now against the address on the land registry and electral roll. What a waste of someones time and money LOL!
