Oli18
In need of your wise words...and quick... My car alarm has been beeping randomly of late. Not a siren....just a beeping. I've been keeping my neighbours awake for the last few days and 1 of them lost it today and ran out in the street screaming bloody murder. I have disconnected the battery now also. So 3 questions for those in the know.... 1. Can anyone please confirm that disconnecting the battery will stop this alarm beeping (and there is no auxiliary battery to keep it going)? 2. Is there anyway of turning off the alarm without disconnecting the battery? Have tried internal sensor already. 3. Vag-com came up with the following scan results....is it just a case of replacing the alarm siren? part 8I0951605a Address 35: Centr. Cuprabob
I have heard of this before and i think it was due to the back-up battery needing replaced.
slowwy1
I had the same issue with mine. The batteries in the siren had leaked so needed new ones. I went on the cheap and bought similar batteries from Maplin and repaired the tracks. Getting a new siren will also fix it, but will cost you quite a bit more. It's about 10 quid for the batteries from maplin and anything from 5min to half an hour soldering depending on how bad the tracks are. You could always just disconnect the siren as well. Oli18
****, backup battery?! - it may be beeping as while i'm at work now and probably getting scratched by devil woman from next door. Where can i find the siren? and is it easy to disconnect? Many thanks for this so far guys! -Oli
slowwy1
The siren is in the boot, but a bit of a pain to get to (makes sence though). You need to loosen the cage holding the CD changer/TV tuner/etc. and pull the trim out slightly. Then it's in a pocket in the wing. It's effectively just under the top of the wing, about a foot back from the phone aerial. I think you have to get the siren out in order to unplug the connector. PaulW
You can use this procedure, it's on the LH side in the boot as you guys call it. http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/electrical_equipment/antennaremove.html

Oli18
I've taken out the siren ( a real easy job btw ) and given devil woman next door a bottle of red for the inconvenience. Have tried to open the siren unit....how hard is that?!!?...spent a good 25 mins trying to pry the thing open without success... ...am i missing a trick? gninnam
This thread has just saved my bacon+++ Got to our holiday destination, unpacked, kicked a ball around with the kids, decided to go to the beach and the loud beeping noise started to come from the car. After trying all the usual suspects, decided to hookup my laptop to my phone and do a search on here. Bingo, up popped this thread. Managed to get the bloodything out (luckily just around the corner, I had seen a bloke working on his Range Rover so managed to borrow a 10mil socket) and now no noise! So many thanks fellow forum members and the holiday can continue:grin:
Oli18
Nice one gninnam! It shows how important it is to write good copy for your thread name as it allows others to find it going forward. Enjoy the rest of the holiday!! :-) -Oli
Sven
Anyone here ever replaced the 'siren' as you call it with a new (aftermarket) one? (Here they are more like regular car horns, not what I'd call a siren. Perhaps the alarms are different in the UK?). Wouldn't mind a better sounding one...
