mb
Need a new copy of Acrobat as currently on 5.0 and getting complaints/compatibility issues when I open a document. I want to be able to edit (touch up text & maybe change an image but that is it) so will Acrobat std be sufficient or would I need professional ? Also can't seem to tell from the upgrade page how many generations back I can upgrade from so not sure if can buy upgrade or need complete product. It is for work so needs to be a proper licence not edu etc. I only use occasionally so any help/advice appreciated !
Mook
Standard is enough for text editing. If you want to swap out an image, you'll need a higher end editing app, like Adobe Illustrator.
mb
Thanks, thats annoying as was hoping would be able to swap 2 identically sized images around as sometimes need to do this when we make a quick change & would rather do it myself than mail it all around - you don't happen to know if professional would let me or are images a definite no for Acrobat ? Waylander
foxit reader pro is much cheaper and can edit pdfs too
Mook
Can it edit (i.e. replace) images as well?
Mook
Hmmm. Answered my own question. There's a Foxit Reader and an Editor, but... Select, Modify and Delete Page Objects Select a single object or a group of objects Modify font, color, size and other text properties Modify color, width, size and other graph properties Modify position, size and other image properties Move, scale or rotate any text, graph or image objects Delete any text, graph or image objects in pages Foxit Software So it looks like you can't replace images. Damn

Waylander
nope you certainly can insert new text. I have it and use it to fill in PDF-based application forms
mb
Thanks the editor Foxit Software certainly looks worth a try as only 99 dollars + suggests can do text + images - will post a report later...
mb
Well I tried a copy of Foxit PDF Editor (it watermarks the file as a trial) and I can change text, background colours & delete then add images (can also resize said images) so all in all for 50 UKP decided to buy the full version as does exactly what I am looking for so thanks for the tip ! Mook
Excellent - I'll get a copy for home
mb
You can try before you buy so well worth a look ! Only quirk seems to be you don't edit the text on the pdf but in a separate window which adds it to the pdf but is perfect for the sort of last minute updates I keep having to get made.
