Snoopy
The black tips im not a fan of myself I had, black one on the mk1 in the early 90s maybe its a fashion thats returned i just think it will blend in tomuch with the black defuser thing. JonC
The black tips im not a fan of myself Got to admit it's not for me either, just doesn't stand out enough as you expect and want to see purposeful exhausts on a car, IMO
Tarmac_Terrorist
I like both silver and black pipes; black obviously much easier to keep clean. I think the black tips on RR's car with 4 pipes looks better (4 pipes in silver is quite blingo and clashes a bit with the carbon fibre)
Snoopy
From that angle and been 100mm ends im not sure if they maybe too big for the mk6.
RedRobin
From that angle and been 100mm ends im not sure if they maybe too big for the mk6. ....Yes, I want to see them from an angle other than a hedgehog's pov! I don't expect them to look too small though as the oem tips look too small for their extreme sides configuration imo. So, when are you migrating across the pond, Geoff, to buy your Mk6 for much less dollars!?

Snoopy
So, when are you migrating across the pond, Geoff, to buy your Mk6 for much less dollars!? I guess you have seen one or two of my posts in the american forums lol.I do get a bit sick reading post after post on the American websites about how badly they are done by VW. Why don't we get this option or this or that when they do in Europe blah blah blah. Simples you pay far less we subsidise you. I was expecting the xchange rate to equal things but it has not just EU&UK pay more! I do wish the UK and Europe buying public would sometimes think like the American public and not pay but im as guilty as everyone else over here on that score. Breath, Rant over lol. RedRobin
.... Thing is though, Geoff, is that if you don't pay you don't get the goodies.
Snoopy
came across this on ph, obviously speculation so take with the usual pinch of salt :-)there is a possibility that the uk may have some production allocation of r line golf, to sit alongside the coming scirocco r line, as illustrated on the attached powerpoint slide. Scirocco r - unveiled in may 2009 and due to arrive in q1 2010. Golf r - although the arrival of an r version of the new golf is not yet guaranteed, it is likely that it could go into production and be with us as early as q1 2010. We may have production of 600 units, but we need to gauge how much desire there would be in the network to run a demo of these two models, to assist our volume negotiations. I should make you aware at this stage that whilst we are not aware of final pricing, the current pricing forecast indicates a premium of around £5,000 on scirocco and £6,500 on golf and therefore these vehicles may be a harder sell than previous models such as golf r32. original post is at SciroccoNet.co.uk • Login So basically it looks like there talking about it maybe £26K for the scirocco R and £28K+ for the golf R. Tarmac_Terrorist
Or more like £28k & 30K respectively if you chuck a sat nav in it! Is that not more than a S3?

Snoopy
Looks like MY2010.5 or MY2011 will get the LED rear lights and keyless ignition from the videos of IAA i have seen. YouTube - D - Frankfurt am Main - IAA 2009 Automobilmesse (Teil 3) Look at 6.16 and there abouts looks like LED lights on GTI + GTD + R and kyless ignition on that GTI. Tarmac_Terrorist
We'll see. Many thought the MKV would get LED rear lights. I think it needs that little bit more to help justify the price / differentiate it from the regular Golf models so hope you're right

I'd like to have seen the Mk6 GTI be more like what we now know as the Golf R but doubtless I'm in the minority.

Snoopy
Rumour on scirocco forums is that keyless ignition from build week 46. Seems odd for VW to show the GTI+GTD+R cars at such a large show fitted with the LED rear lights not as concept cars but as production models if they will not be at least an option soon. The GTI will never be a power house car its fate was sealed by VW in 1993 by the introduction of the VR6. The full production GTI will always be strangled by the R brand. Oh and i ordered my mk6 20th August. If the LEDs/IGN do become standard, mine will with my luck be the last mk6 series 1 car as thats what my luck is like! Enjoy it when it comes, you wont be dissapointed, i was enquiring today about revo map and cat back milltek at local Revo dealer and according to there graphs should be kicking out about 280bhp, you know where i will be going in a couple of weeks, the car at the minute is flying on optimax and feels alot quicker than the mk5 R did ? The R is a great car but that 3.2 is lazy in standard form The mk6 R should be a great car just a pitty no V6 soundtrack like the mk5
JonC
i was enquiring today about revo map and cat back milltek You're going to love that, Carnell You'll wonder why you never did it earlier. I modded my MKV and the Revo map + Milltek mix is how the car should have left the factory! Let us know how you get on

Paul
The more i see the Rocco R in that blue the more i am leaning towards it. :notworthy: I might just have to "put up" with the FWD over the Golf R's 4x4, as the Rocco looks far more pleasing to the eye.
