chickeninabun
I have an 2008 Audi A6 Avant with CD sat nav built into the MMI. It might just be me being stupid but I don't seem to be able to enter a postcode into the sat nav. I can start entering it and get the first two letters and then the first 2 or 3 numbers in but it won't let me enter the last 2 letters. It just then gives me a list of street names to choose from. What if I don't know the street name and just have the complete postcode??? Surely Audi didn't build such a fab car and c*ck up the sat nav?? Anyone know?? Thanks x
craigyb
It's the way that all the Audi nav systems work, from the very basic to the top end. So nothing wrong, just a limitation. And no updates are available to enable this yet and none in the pipeline that we know of.
chickeninabun
Thanks! Glad to know it's not just me being a numpty, but very frustrating all the same.
PetrolDave
Surely Audi didn't build such a fab car and c*ck up the sat nav?? Sadly they did - not having full postcode entry is a REAL pain, but for me the plus points of the OE sat nav more than outweigh the minor irritations like this one. GlynH
I agree that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages (but only just in my case as I really do miss not having the SatNav display in the DIS on my S8) So what exactly is the issue here? Surely it wouldn't be something so simple, petty or frustrating that the full postcode data may already reside on the DVD but Audi won't/can't pay whoever requires a license fee of some sort to 'unlock' it and update the RNS-E firmware to read it? Would it... Regards, -=Glyn=- Edited December 2, 2008 by GlynH
sidicks
If it is any consolation, the Porsche OE Sat Nav is exactly the same, even on the Gen 2 997. Sidicks
GlynH
No consolation at all Sidicks, I feel for you One would think that when you buy into the 'luxury' end of the market things such as this would become standard... Aah well... Kind regards, -=Glyn=-
sidicks
No consolation at all Sidicks,I feel for you It's particularly gutting when you realise that BMW have had full postcode functionality for quite some time......... craigyb
Now then, the new MMI 3G also suffers from the same issue, no full post code search.
