EddyH
I have a really dark wood trim and I need a facelift centre console trim piece but I need to know what the colour is called, preferably in german too.
rickbee
If its very dark, sort of a dark grey colour like mine, I think its called Myrtle, but I am happy to be corrected if wrong:)
Sven
Should be listed on your sticker... But my guess would be Myrtle too if it's almost black like mine... Code for Myrtle is 5MW IIRC its named Myrte in German (also w/o the 'L'). Edited July 11, 2008 by Sven
EddyH
I've attached a photo of the trim and of the options sticker. Sorry about the quality but I used my phone.

EddyH
I have a facelift centre console trim that is lighter and more red coloured than my current trim so I think that must be walnut. I've seen the vavona trim in A8parts ebay shop which is even lighter so unless there are other colours available I think mine must be mrytle. IT_S8
Here is the decode of you 8:4D2 = Seat ventilation/massage seats, front and rear I wish... :-) Think Mike got a bit trigger happy with the 3 letter codes there 4D2 is the car type, or 'D2' as we commonly call it. I would say it was Dark Mrytle, I recall it when it came in, not least because it was the second car I'd ever seen with black headlining (Code BA on the build sticker) Dark Mrytle was standard on the pre face S8 at one point, which may explain the lack of inventory on the build sticker. EddyH
Some nice sounding trim options there, I imagine most aren't available in RHD though. Anyway it looks like my trim is dark mrytle so now I just need to find a centre console trim in that colour (or replace the lot for something else). rickbee
I would change it Eddy, I have myrtle and I dont see the point of it as its so dark it doesnt look like wood anyway. If it has a grain, it can hardly be seen. Imho, if your are going to have wood trim, then it should look like wood, but, each to their own etc........Vavona looks good to me, and I'm going to change mine and have blinds installed(which is an omission on my car) when A8 parts get some the right colour. Ian will have some wood trim sets to choose from no doubt?
IT_S8
Ian will have some wood trim sets to choose from no doubt? Of course we have them :-) Pre facelift is a bit tricky though as anything other than Walnut is quite rare. We have plenty of walnut, but still for the door capping this needs to be colour coded to the door trims (black, cream or grey) and the door handle inner forms part of the upper wood, unless you have no wood and its all plastic, which also happens, sometimes... (no, its never easy is it?) Facelift we have a set of vavona over cream, and plenty of walnut to go at. In either case, much of the cost of changeover is reliant on what cage you have around your stereo - The double din holds a premium for those wanting Sat Nav retrofits..... EddyH
I'll drop them an email to ask what they have. Regarding blinds I have the rear one but not side ones which is annoying.

I have a prefacelift but I'm fitting a facelift double din centre console which I have (but in walnut, I think). Is there anything different regarding fitment for the trim for the rest of the car between prefacelift and facelift? I would need something over black and without heated rear seats so the Vavona on your ebay shop isn't a goer as far as I can see.
rickbee
The double din holds a premium for those wanting Sat Nav retrofits..... Hmmm, thats interesting Ian, I'm still determined to get without my double din... but am still trying to see what/how it can be done. Anyone for a swap?? Would a physical swap work, I think maybe you said not?? If I succeed, I have a valuable item on my hands it seems Never thought wood trim would be that complex:rolleyes:
EddyH
I'd be interested in your double din trim in mrytle.
Sven
If anyone has a spare center console (ashtray, gearlever surround, cupholder cover) in Myrtle, I'd be interested, if it's in good condition.... Please feel free to PM.
