RJP
My local garage has finally got round to attempting to replace the rear differential mounting bushes that are shot on my S8 (12a and 12b in diagram below) They are apparently rubber and plastic, and much larger than the hole. They got one in, but broke the other. Audi do not know how to mount them, and cannot supply them ready mounted in the crosspiece (12). Has anyone had any experience of replacing these? The garage have reordered the bush, but I think they could do with some guidance.. Thanks Rob '98 S8
Clarkes8
Hi I have replaced mine ('99 S8) and they went in (with a press) very easily mine were not much bigger than the hole and you could start them in the bore by hand I would suggest you have the wrong ones! RJP
Clarkes8 Thanks for the reply. On the second go they got them in - I don't really know what their problem was first time round, as I never saw the bushes before they fitted them. On mine the gearchanges did seem smoother after this was done, but there is still a clunk going from neutral to reverse (or sometimes neutral to drive), so I guess I probably have some gearbox wear as well. Otherwise, all seems to work (for now!) Rob
