Mollox
Are these rare as rocking horse poo at the moment or is it just Carphone Warehouse that are struggling to get hold of these?

Mollox
No iphone at present - new Does that make a difference?
bells0
Yeah, upgrading is a pain as 02 can't get stock [or rather, are getting stock, but letting new customers have them in store!] Apple stores are your best bet for stock - seem to be getting them all the time, followed strangely by CPW and then o2. I got a 16gig White [exclusive to Applestores at the mo] a couple of weeks ago. Turned up at Meadowhall at 9am when apple opened and was 8th in the queue, got mine no probs. Ritey
As above, I think Apple stores have plenty in stock, O2 have 16gb in some stores with stock arriving in less than ten units a week.
Mollox
OK, will see if I can get down to the Apple store on Regent St tomorrow and see how we go... What's the deal wiht PAC codes etc? I've been a loyal vodafone customer for 15 years and have never changed. Do I need the PAC code before I go and sign up for an iphone? Confusing, ta
Ritey
You'll get a temporary number while the PAC code is being transferred if you don't have it when you go into the store. Depending on how good your phone skills are you can get the PAC code same day because they have nothing they can offer you in the way of an iPhone, however some of my friends have had to wait between 3 and 5 days for it before being released to give to o2. bazza_g
waiting for a PAC is very cheeky on the networks part - if you are out of contract they HAVE to give it to you (OFCOM rules) if you ask for it
Mollox
Good old Carphone Warehouse called me to say they had one today so just going through setup and upgrading iTunes. I hope activation is going to be painless.... Got my PAC code request into Vodafone today (Gemma sounded lovely but they don't really have an argument to the iphone so it was a futile fight). Hopefully I'll be iphoning in a few mmins

Mollox
After 10 mins its awesome. Was a bit of a struggle typing that as I was using my thumbs and they're not small (back on the pc now). Am guessing somewhere there's an option to make the letters bigger... Most impressive so far is just how intuitve it is - e.g. not using instructions but just knew as I was broswing TSN that rotating it would flip the screen roung

When I have played with it I can every letter other than the one I want. It does seem to be clever in guessing the word you wanted but not every time. How does everyone find battery life as well? It also learns your common mistakes so progressively gets better at writing what you want rather than what you type, you just need to learn to trust it As for battery life, 3g has taken it's toll for those that I know using it, but not as massively as I'd expect. Guess it depends on how often you have data being pushed to it, or how often you have it polling your email accounts if your not using the push technology
dave877
How does everyone find battery life as well? Mine needs charging everyday. On average I'm playing with it for an hour over the course of a day (i.e. internet, apps, etc.) a couple of calls and texts and an hour of music. Using push email and with wifi/bluetooth always on. With that level of usage full to flat seems to be about a day and a half. I wasn't in the least bit interested in the iphone until the new one came out and it has just been a revelation. Unlike my old windows phone everything just works. As regards availability O2 weren't interested whereas Carphone Warehouse went out of their way to sell me one (upgrade). CarMad
What about bugs.. quite a few people I've spoken to say the new one has a few issues / bugs that can be quite annoying. (Can't believe I'm actually considering getting one.)
Mollox
Well, I can;t log onto my wireless network at home. No idea why. I've entered my WEP key but it says 'unable to join'. Any ideas? I have had a bottle of ouzo so that might have something to do with it but otherwise I have no ideas....

(Can't believe I'm actually considering getting one.) With the 2.0 software they've tweaked the way bluetooth works so a few car manufacturers codes aren't talking to it anymore, I don't think there are any more issues with the phone that there was before. Some of the Apps available to download crash a fair bit but in that instance the program just closes and your taken back to the main screen. 2.1 software is due very soon
Mollox
Have you got a Mac filter on your network, has the iPhone Mac address been added? tom_hargreaves
What about bugs.. quite a few people I've spoken to say the new one has a few issues / bugs that can be quite annoying. (Can't believe I'm actually considering getting one.) I had the iPhone 2G and i'd say it's the software not the phone, after I upgraded my old one to Version 2.0, the texting became very unresponsive and sometimes on contacts, you tap a name and it takes about 5 seconds to respond. Before v2.0 it was flawless, but I imagine this will be addressed in a new update or something. But apart from that little niggle, everything about the 3G version is top notch, apart from the battery life. It needs charging pretty much every day if 3G/Wi-Fi or push email is enabled. bells0
To save the battery whilst i'm at work or home [it connects to my wireless wi-fi] i turn 3g and location services [gps] off. Can easily get 2 days worth of charge. Only takes a sec to turn them back on when i'm out and about. 3g speeds are pretty decent, i was watchin a Mighty Boosh special on bbc iplayer in the car on Sat whilst the bird was shopping!
