Moschops
okay, new PC arrives today or tomorrow, when ever they feel like delivering it.... Anyway, was looking at replacing my current setup, still on a cable (ADSL) setup. Now I've been looking at one of these D-Link DKT-810 Wireless jobbies, any recommendations ? I'm on unlimited broadband with Orange via an ADSL modem all connected currently via cables. TIA
bells0
Use Netgear wireless routers at home and office - never had a problem, super reliable and easy to set up.
Booster
Another vote for Netgear here. I am useless at setting stuff up and managed to set up a Netgear Dg834GT router.
nordberg
Use Netgear wireless routers at home and office - never had a problem, super reliable and easy to set up. I concur. The Netgear kit is particularly easy to set up and is pretty reliable. Linksys, whilst a bit more expensive, is also worth considering. My experience of DLink is that it's dog**** to be honest. We used to sell a fair bit of DLink kit and a massive percentage of it hit the returns desk.
Biscuits
Another vote for Negear, although the wireless part of the routers gets very hot and is the first bit to fail. We use VIGOR... not very user friendly to set up, but ultra reliable... think we've needed to reset it twice this year.
Gren
Have had Netgear (DG834GT) ADSL wireless router and D-Link (D655) Cable router and both have behaved impaccably. The Netgear is a piece of cake to set up, the D-Link more complicated but much more tweakable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend both.
shao_khan
Again a for Netgear and D-Link here as well. My Netgear has worked fine. I hae a NEtgear 834GT and a couple of BT home Hubs in the spares cupboard. The netgear though needs a new Antena as it isnt broadcasting properly
CarMad
I would say Netgear but their N kit hasn't done to well in any test I've read, for reach at least. D-Link or Linksys are better for Wireless N at the moment IMO.
RobK
My D-Link router keeps hanging since I put an extra wired PC onto it and I have to power cycle it before it will do anything. Becoming very annoying!

We stopped selling them and concentrated on Netgear - which hardly ever came back. If it did, it was the mains PSU that was the problem. I have a DG834G - utterly reliable. 2 yrs so far without an issue. Powered up most days and powered down each evening.

Had a Netgear PSU go on me a couple of years back. Netgear couriered a whole new boxed router to me around 3 days later within warranty. Otherwise it was solid. RobK
The PSU went on my previous D-Link router and they wouldn't replace it under warranty as they said it was a consumable!
Sponge
That's shocking! Consumables are batteries, printer cartridges, lightbulbs, not PSUs.
Hopsta
PSU issues with some of the older linksys routers too, now have 2 yr warranty

Hope they don't try that with me. Mine came with an 11 year warranty and the PSU is bound to go some time by then
RobK
Despite the problems I've had with D-Link I'm thinking of getting a DIR-655 for the gigabit switch and better range. Am I mad?
T_Rifles
I bought the dlink 655 and am really happy with it(fingers crossed). I had expensive mistake with Netgear WNR854T. Had two fail after 13 months, only one year warranty on those. They must have known.
