CarMad
So they updated the touch to look like and iPhone, the Nano as suspect is cheaper and has a bigger screen and the classic carries on but with just a 120gb hd. Apple Overhauls iPod nano, Tweaks touch, Sidelines classic - TrustedReviews Oh for all the iPhone lovers version 2.1 of the software is out (the only real supprise) and its meant to be pretty bug free, quicker to back up and not use as much battery. Report back with your findings people.
bazza_g
Does the software update need the whole backing up to the PC, update, and download again that the 1.x to 2.0 needed - it took forever!! Anybody heard more about the facelifted Macbook that rumoured to arrive at the end of august?
D1MAC
Glad I didn't wait before buying a Classic as there doesn't seem that much of excitement from the new stuff. The odd one for me is the Touch as I just don't see that many people buying one in preference to an iphone, especially when PAYG hits the streets. It really needs to be cheaper still or (which might have made me think twice, sort of) have a 64gb top model @ £300. Less would be nice but this is Apple! Had a play with the Nano in the Apple store earlier. Looks good but at the same time it's so small, thin & light that it's almost like a cracker toy (an expensive one admittedly:grin:). Mac
I've had two touches now (ooer) and they really are fantastic bits of kit The iPhone I think is more of a Touch that happens to be able to make calls, rather than a phone that's able to impersonate an iPod - if that makes sense. Apple do make some cool kit... but it's now slowly evolving isn't it? The last revolution being the soft-touch screens with the touch/phone. I'm just waiting on the Macbooks/MBPs.... Itching to get a new one.

Only qualm would be the odd rumblings I've read about sound quality (which may or may not be bobbins). However, if I look at my own position (had I not bought a few weeks back) I would be looking for a phone and a music player. I don't do contracts so a decent phone and a 16Gb Touch would be about £400 -£450 but a 16Gb iphone on PAYG is £400 with a years free data. No brainer to me (and I would imagine a fair few other people) so I just don't think there's enough distance between the two.
Mac
It's odd how people's use of mobile comms is evolving - people are using calling less and mobile data (SMS, messaging, email etc.) far more. It's getting bigger with Gen Y too. It still massively makes me laugh when you ring someone, they don't answer, you don't leave a message - and then two minutes later you get a text saying 'what do you want' Answer the funking phone and you'd know Funny thing is I mostly 'work' in that manner now. I don't like unexpected interruptions - text/email allows me to manage how I communicate with people, answering random calls does not. Anyway, I'm running into a whole different convo - but I think the iPhone is the beginning of a big convergence on voice/video/data telecoms. Bring on the future
scillyisles
Disappointed with the new changes - I currently have four Ipods (60gb,80Gb and 160gb Classic and 16gb Itouch) Was hoping that they would introduce a 64gb Itouch as my music collection is now over 50gb. Concerned that they seem to be sidelining the Classic with now just one size 120gb. Rumour is that the classic will be discontinued in 12-18 months which does not auger well for those of us who like to carry all our music collection around on one Ipod. The Iphone (software at least) seems to be in a continual state of flux and whilst the device itself is cool there are some issues with it - consequently I have ordered a Blackberry Bold to replace my N95 as overall the Blackberry solution looks a better option than the Iphone.
