Chav
Remote upgrade time. What do the other home cine buffs recommend for a universal remote at mo? New prontos seem hard to come by. But pronto TSU9400 and 9600 seem the best at mo. Anyone know suppliers with good prices in uk, or do i have to fleebay from the states? Looked at the new harmonies, such as 1000 and one, but they all look completely ****e. ...plus want to select pc audio media via screen on the remote , meaning pronto or nevo (but old now)?? craigyb
Letsautomate.com or cyberselect.co.uk Next day delivery, I got my 980 from them and several others. Plus most of the X10 stuff I have is from cyberselect. Have a look at remotecentral.com Edited September 12, 2008 by craigyb
rottenbend
I absolutely love my Logitech Harmony 895. Works brilliantly and the setup software being web based is constantly updated with new appliances.
CarMad
Get something simple, I often don't use mine anymore I almost prefer to use the SKY remote. It controls the hi-fi and sky and thats 90% of my usage so does the job for me.
craigyb
If you setup a pronto correctly it wipes the floor with most remotes, regardless of how simple. Especially with a home cinema system the sky remote just wont cut it. From the home page of my remote I can open/close blinds, dim lighting, change the volume of the amp, mute etc, switch the whole system on/off, change channel on the SKY HD, record a program or pause, change screen resolution, zoom etc, select audi formats and then springboard to the Windows Media Player, Wii, CD recorder, PC, lighting etc with full control. bullett
Does anyone know if any universal will control my Bose surround sound/CD player? It's not IR so I'm a bit stumped the Logitech lists RF supported but my reading makes me think this is for IR extenders not device control. Other devices are the Pioneer Plasma, Sky+ box and PS3 if possible. I want something that runs macros eg, watch DVD, watch Sky.
craigyb
With the pronto, every button can be a macro, there are no limitations, actions, delays, timers, jumps etc all under a single button press. BOSE surround sound? are you sure that's not 455Khz IR? I don't know what the name of your system is, but here is a link to some BOSE lifestyle templates for the pronto RC Files: Philips Pronto NG - Component PCF for Bose Audio Systems (1)
bullett
Pretty sure it's radio, it's quite an old system and was given to us (System one? is that a Bose model?) I'll check when I get home. But there is no IR transmitter on the front of the remote and I don't need line of Sight.
