theduisbergkid
OK, tech ignoramus here, how do I connect my Sony Ericsson phone to my E46 in order to use the phone's inbuilt MP3 player ? Not bothered about the phone itself (TomTom has hands-free function). Car has the buttons for hands-free and stereo etc, no idea where to start, any suggestions that don't cost the earth and require re-plumbing 3 km of wiring ? Yeah, yeah, I'm an I.C.E. thicky. theduisbergkid
Right, I've carefully pushed some doorbell wire into the earpiece connector on the phone, and insulated it with blue-tac. I've split the other end of the wire in two, half goes into the CD player slot, the other is rammed into the speaker grille. I've turned up 'cheeky girls greatest hits' to the max on the phone, but nothing but smoke is coming out of the car's CD player. The speaker makes an intermittant buzzing sound, and occasionally gives me an electric shock. So... Next step - Take a kettle lead, hacksaw the plug off, connect one end to the positive end of the car battery and secure it with cellotape. Stuff the other end into an extension lead, snap 2 of the 3 pins off the plug, ram the remaining pin into the back of the TomTom. Use a length of bent wire coat hanger to gently penetrate the screen of the TomTom, stapling the other end to the electric window switch. Disconnect one HT lead, stuff some string in it, and tie the other end to the car ariel in a big bow. Put the car in first gear, start the ignition and flick the window swich. Call fire brigade. Listen to the radio in the kitchen while they douse car. Maybe I should have enabled the bluetooth on the heated rear screen ? You lot are no feckin use whatsoever. gizze
Haha. What year is the E46 and what radio is it?? It may need an adapter from Connects2 or similar that pretends to be a cd player, this will give you an aux in.

gizze
They also do one with the dock connector which will charge the ipod and turn it off with the ignition.
