DOTSnutter
Hey guys thought I'd post a few pics up of the new car, I am happy with it, just wish the aftersales was a little more up to scratch, hopefully next month will see a REVO and Milltek installed and whenever the Gruppem CAI is released that will find its way onto the car, Edited October 15, 2008 by DOTSnutter
Booster
Very nice!!! Love the wheels :D The interior looks spot on. I had only seen the publicity shots of the press cars with the brown / tan interior and wasn't impressed with it.
langlord
I have to say I was not a fan of silver till I saw it in the flesh, really suits the car cant wait for mine to arrive now should be in about a weeks time
DOTSnutter
Right almost a week into ownership and everything is going well, I am getting good returns on fuel and used the boot for the first time which swallowed a week’s shopping comfortably, A couple gripes I have had or found so far the car loves to let water in, the roof doesn’t seem to channel water away from the doors but rather towards them (sleek looks have their downsides)!! It’s a fairly minor problem but an irritating one none the less, so if it’s raining race to get the door open and shut as quickly as poss or risk a waterfall of water heading for the cabin. My other small gripe is with the sport mode setting on the DSG, it seems unless you are really going for it can be quite jerky, if you slow to a halt and try to apply the accelerator gently the car lurches forward, as some of you know sometimes when we are making progress you will come to a roundabout or junction where you might have to wait and the only way to combat this is to put it into comfort and full auto, then once you have pulled out flick it back again, not a massive issue but irritating none the less. Also be careful not to let the MID (Ipod Connection) distract you, I think it is a little bit of a gimmick as changing tracks or albums you’ll sometimes take your eyes off the road and there is quite a pause when changing tracks, it is nice and I am sure it is great for keeping passengers entertained on longer journeys but the Radio takes preference for me on the tiresome motorway haul. I am putting these little issues down to quirks, and to be honest they haven’t bothered me to much as the novelty of a new car is still very much present. (Mileage 370 Petrol £65) If I find any new quirks, good or bad I’ll give an update Thanks Mark

DOTSnutter
Others will have their own views, but i wouldnt be using sport mode untill run in. IMHO of course. True, but there is thrashing it and going quickly, I wont be thrashing it but I'm not waiting 4000 miles to use a little bit of power... also I am talking about how the sport mode behaves at lower speeds. You dont have to drive fast to use the sport mode or you shouldnt have too, it is supposed to alter the throttle response etc it only holds the revs depending on the the throttle position, so if you put your foot down it will hold the revs etc also the sport mode stiffens the suspension electronically to give a stiffer and firmer ride which reduces body roll etc I gather you have a Scirocco as far as I am aware its the first VW to use this technology, so how have you found it or have you stuck to comfort for now? thats all in in my opinion of course;)
billy2shots
Sorry mate i was thinking of my time with my R32 DSG. Kept the revs around 5k all the time even if not accelerating hard. Glad your enjoying it, and you will get used to the DSG.

I suspect it might be slightly different to the R32, given that the R32 is running a lot more power:cool:
