As per title....

Does the APS 300bhp conversion for the mk5 R32 - cams, exhaust, filter, remap really make 300bhp?

It seems like a lot of extra power for very little work?

Anyone had it done and RR their car? - Thoughts?

I have read that some cars with the above have only made 278ish bhp....

My mk5 atm makes 270 with revo map, milltek and CAI - so are the cams worth it?

Yes, I can categorically say that the Schrick cams are worth it. Be it 264/260 or the 268/264, both will make a significant difference to mid range to top end power delivery, which is so often asthmatic in OEM form. But, APS's R300 does not make 300bhp and APS will tell you that. Realistically, it more between 280-290ish if your engine is already well run-in. If you really want to extract more than 300bhp from it without going down the forced induction route, then it might be wise to check out HPA's NA program which includes their own custom profiled cams, CVP intake manifold, exhaust system and a custom remap.

I'm having a set of 268/264's and a custom remap installed at APS on Thursday so I can report back on the changes next week. From talking to a couple of people who have had the Scrick cams in their 3.2 V6 TT, the reports are extremely positive.

That's what I never got about the Mk5. The same extras (cams, full Milltek inc cats and a remap), plus a few extra bits saw well over 300bhp on my Mk4, dyno'd by AmD when they originally did the work (as the original AmD when Ed & Co from APS were working there) plus on an independent dyno.

The cats bugger up the back-pressure on the Mk5, IIRC.

Just stick a supercharger on it +++
